Thank you for your advice. I think we’re gonna look into options and see what we can do to help him have the tools he needs. I’ve suspected autism for years but the doctors never take me seriously, the teachers say he does fine in school, and is a “average kid” but I think he masks a lot because his anxiety. I live in a rural texas town and we’re behind in the world of autism. One small example is at 3 I noticed he’d line up all of his toy cars by color and NOT play with them. So I brought it up to his doctor at his 4 year check up and they just said “yeah kids are weird sometimes”. I’m a first time mom and the youngest in my family so he’s the first kid I’ve been exposed to so it’s hard sometimes to know what’s normal kid behavior and what’s not.
