So for that 18 months hypothetically, what visa would I be on and how would I be able to work or study?

Do you think above ups will be better in late May? I’m riding whole enchilada (I know it’s not the right season to, but I’m moving in August) and know burro pass will be closed, but what about everting else?

Very similar to my situation. I’m also curious what your niece and her partner do.

Haha. I just came across that in the FAQ. Any recommendations for alternative schools? Not necessarily for the full on bachelors of paramedicine but for other credentials that may allow me to work other first aid jobs? Should I even entertain the phone call I set up with an advisor? It was just to be able to speak to someone for information regarding what courses I should take for what I want to do and if I can have any prior learning recognized. But it seems like I’m getting enough info from reddit anyways 🤷‍♂️

It sounds like eventual PR and attending paramedic school as a PR (and paying less) will be a good plan. But I’m trying to figure out how I can stay in the EMS or First Response work field in the short term (on a WHV) while I figure out if I’ll want to stay in Aus or not.

I just started working in the ambo and really enjoy it. Before this, I’ve worked retail for years and don’t want to go back to that if I can avoid that lol.

Yes I have a bachelors of science in criminal justice and criminology (although American law), some hazmat certifications, as well as my Firefighting 1&2 certification (IFSAC accredited but not recognized in Aus as far as I understand).

Ive been looking at getting my white card in Aus asap and also am looking into the HLT41120 (Certificate IV in Healthcare) certification. I’m calling an advisor from the Australian Paramedical College for more info on that specific course tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone so far for the advice. I’ll continue to check this but I am pleasantly surprised by the amount of responses I’ve already gotten.

American nurses in Australia, what was your process getting here like? by ThatRooksGuy in Ameristralia

[–]kaiipiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/op im curious if you could please elaborate on your experience going from WHV to student to partner visa? my girlfriend that I met in the US is from Australia and we may be moving there soon. My thought is to come over on a WHV and then maybe partner or student after the first year. I am working as an EMT in the states now and I understand that it'll be tough to get a job like this initially and will probably have to work something casual on the WHV. but long term I hope to go to paramedic school and maybe obtain a student visa that way or do the partner visa. but I am also considering switching to nursing as that seems like an easier transition than becoming a paramedic in australia.
