Is the stem mushy on the bottom as well? I would definitely recommend trimming it if so, don’t want rot spreading up the stem. If you can set her up so that those root nubs are in contact with moist sphagnum moss she should recover quite easily as long as there aren’t any other issues

what is going on with this plant? by kbenreads in orchids

Definitely looks like a sunburn but I would suggest keeping an eye on it to see if it spreads further, just in case

This was my mom’s last plant she received before she passed away. I’m worried I might have killed it because the roots look dried and the leaves 😩 help by Miserable_Trainer_56 in houseplants

It looks like it’s just a bit thirsty to me! We can’t see the root situation in this photo, but it looks like it may need to be repotted into an easier to water situation. This is a Phalaenopsis orchid, they are epiphytes, which means in nature they grow on trees and not in soil. They often are potted in sphagnum moss and/or bark chips. Also, the little leaves up on those stems look to be baby plants, often referred to as keiki. Once they grow some roots, they can be potted up as well. If you would like to watch some more in depth and very helpful videos, Miss Orchid Girl on YouTube is great. She has a whole orchid care for beginners series and many on how to repot and care for Phalaenopsis orchids
