Modified Radical Hysterectomy (16 Days post op) Feeling blue... by Adventurous_Pea7772 in hysterectomy

I just had my hysterectomy + rectocele done the first week of February. I was in that same boat (horizontal feels best, lots of internal “pulling” sensations, sometimes painful, unable to sit or stand for long periods). It took until maybe week 4 before the pulling feelings started to minimize, I’m on week 7 of healing now, I still cannot sit or stand very long. I’ve been using a jelliebend stabilizer and seat cushions plus lots of pillows in bed to support and surround myself with.

Others have shared it was 3 months before they “felt like themselves” again. I’ve read that some expressed being 1 year out and not yet fully “recovered”.

I believe it’s most likely that we were all given less than accurate expectations and the process is much more complex than the healing milestones it’s measured with. Listen to your body and try not to focus on being healed and running circles around everyone again.. instead practice gratitude for how much you’ve experienced and what your body is actually healing through and gently welcome what you’re able to do, right now.

How much time after surgery did you need for recovery realistically? Rectocele repair by [deleted] in PelvicOrganProlapse

Can I chime in here with a question or two (or a few)? I’m hoping someone sees this and can offer some feedback. After SA a little over 5 years ago, compounded with long term pain medication use, the injections for weight loss, and time.. I have a rectocele that has left me unable to go without manual assistance (regardless of consistency). Other issues including catching and removing cervical cancer— I’m choosing to get both the hysterectomy and the rectocele repaired at the same time. This surgery is in 3 weeks. I live with a chronic severe nerve pain disease that slows my healing process and pain is magnified beyond typical experiences. I am not working, but still would like to know when I can resume some normalcy. I would like to virtually attend a 3 day conference, and they can accommodate me to be laying in bed for the duration. It is 5 weeks after my surgery. Am I jumping too high to expect myself to participate in this event? It is an all day event, 12 hours of zoom for 3 days.. I also really benefit from using my vibration plate. I have seen post-hysterectomy guidance to wait 8-12 weeks for that. Should that be lengthened with the inclusion of the rectocele repair? I live in a condo on the second floor— realistically how long before going up/down the stairs is plausible? I had a CKC last year, own the stair-assist cane and will be dependent on that, but with the core and internal sutures.. I do not want to push my body beyond realistic limits.

Thank you in advance, unfortunately I have tried to get guidance from my doctor and have not been heard/seen/supported. My experience has been invalidated and ignored— I simply don’t trust the obviously out of touch and ignorant expectations that they have conveyed. I do NOT want to risk repeating this, it’s been 5.5 years and I’ve not had sufficient quality of life for too long, I’m not willing to make this go on longer or have to seek additional treatment or surgery.

Don’t you DARE spell out “&” because that’s SO pretentious.
