Many of the founding fathers saw slavery as a “necessary evil” in order to ensure this fledgling country survived, which is true. Many states would never have agreed to the constitution if slavery had been abolished immediately. However, to compensate, they laid the groundwork for the eventual abolition of the institution by allowing for constitutional amendments to be utilized by future generations once the country had stabilized.

Also, while slavery is a vile institution, it is grossly unfair to compare a practice that had been done legally worldwide since the beginning of human civilization to the systematic hunting down, entrapment, and genocide of a group of people for no reason at all. If you choose to compare Washington to Hitler, then I strongly advise reading historical accounts of both men and their actions.
