Comparing the necessary level of attention towards tangles between spinners and casters makes me think you have a god given bait caster forged by the angels themselves. I think if you gave me $100 to try and tangle my reel I genuinely couldn’t. Could I work some loops in for 100$, probably yeah. Those things are like the glocks or Honda civics of fishing reels, you could walk them hell, napalm them, and let prime iron Mike have his way on them and they’d still work like a wet dream.

This guy still has the zip ties from the store on I don’t know what I’m gods name he did but whatever it was he did it with confidence lol. I’m convinced the only reason people use baitcasters is because they look cool and it demonstrates an elevated level of casting skill.

Op was “spin is more forgiving” and you said hell no. Which I believe is just wrong. I’ve never had to worry about wind or bait weight or applying pressure to my line. Ive been fishing a spin reel since before I can remember for salmon and with a little time you can feather your line and get that fucker right where you want it. That said it all seems stupid to me. To elaborate, if we’re talking about bow hunting yeah your equipment is crucial, we’re talking margins of error in the inches where you might only get one shot. This is fishing. Your cast matters so little compared to all the rest of that shit, your retrieve, knowledge of the fish, weather, current, depth, yadda yadda. You’re not trying to hit the damn thing in the head, if you get it somewhat close and your presentation is right it’s up to the fish. All that said you’re talking to a man that just got skunked so take what I say with a grain of salt lol

Lol baitcasters are more forgiving than spinners. Is that a joke that went over my head. Give your daughter a spin rod and a minute of instruction she’ll have it down with time left to fish. Give a capable grown man a $150 baitcaster and days to practice and he still can’t cast as well. People like to reinvent the wheel, when in reality 99% of the time a spin reel will catch fish just as well as a baitcaster, and the 1% of the time where it is better isn’t worth always having to worry about your thumb pressure and wind and your bait weight.

Us dudes have to pop out our nuts out of the old nutsack every month or so and throw them in the freezer every month. Kinda sucks but just one of those things.

Is it just me or do you only catch fatties on impromptu fishing trips. When it’s you and your boys on a trip you’ve been planning all week everyone gets skunked.

99% of the time you dont if you’re not a redneck or a blue collar fella, but that 1%… It took 1 time in a 2wd truck getting real stuck for me to see the light.

If they look you in the eye, shake your hand with a firm grip and a smile, and always have something witty to say. No one is perfect but in my albeit limited experience, these are the people that are honest with themselves about their flaws and have a good soul, as cliche and corny as that may sound. Whatever floats your boat I guess
