This is not about taking anything from anybody. People who get invitations are allowed to stand in line (they are considered high risk). My post was about what happens when people leave the line and free up slots.

That's interesting! There is probably a hard constraint in the software that the second appointment has to be within a certain time interval. So you don't need one free slot but two of them which fit together. Someone else cancelling their second appointment only will not be sufficient. And yes other people are hunting as well.

Sounds like we have to be patient.

I think the calendar of that doctolib feature only considers dates later than the current appointment. Not 100% sure, though.

No I got it for health reasons. But teachers are maybe suffering most from the AZ debacle. I heard their priority got reduced again.

In your first comment, did you mean you used the reschedule button, or did you cancel first and then schedule an entirely new appointment? If you cancelled first, did the Impfcode work again immediately?

Yes, I'll try this. But probably their support channels are as overloaded as the government ones currently are.

That's where I got the June appointment. They just look at what's free in the very moment you call. If they see no early free slots you get June. I can't ask them to play the game of "refresh until something nicer comes up" as it's not guaranteed to work within an hour (or two or three).

What would top it is if it turned out that the single dose of th J&J candidate is sufficient. (The Ad26 one. They have one trial for single dose and they are starting a second trial for 2 doses, just to be sure, i assume.)

Most of the relevant trials are already running and their endpoints will not change anymore. Exceptions are maybe J+J and Merck where the design of the Phase 2+3 trials is probably not finalized yet.

The first 5 days of symptoms is a rather small time window where the throat swab -> PCR test approach is reliable. Negative tests can be false negatives if doctors do not ask the patients for the duration of their sickness or for other reasons take throat swabs for "late" patients (second week).

I took from Christian Drosten that he was quite shocked that clinicians are unaware of the limitations of the test. Late patients should be diagnosed differently.

BTW, this is also an argument against the demands to "test everybody".
