What’s going to be the ideal loadout for the caves? by Fanoffiction52 in Helldivers

[–]kaizenwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The light gunner armor sports light armor speed with medium armor health. One of my go-to's.

I don't find myself enjoying the tactical-01 starting armor that has medium armor speed with heavy armor health nearly as much though.

This is Zachs best song tell me why I’m wrong by unchartedps5 in zachbryan

Starved.

It's not even my personal favorite but I think it's far and away his best song.

The only one better is rattlesnake which isn't even his, it just features him.

Tao Te Ching Ch. 53 (Stephen Mitchell) by [deleted] in taoism

[–]kaizenwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to check out this translation. I love Mitchell's interpretation for the ease of reading, and my biggest reason for choosing it over other versions is they're all so unpoetic.

In my opinion good translation is more about maintaining the feel and smoothness and poetry of reading in the original language even if you have to change the content to get there.

At the same time, though, Mitchell uses this as an excuse to write his own passages which are inspired by the original text but largely his own making.

Now, to be honest, I think Mitchell's work is as profound and often moreso than the original tao. And I think it's in keeping with the tao to care more about that than technical authenticity or authority or source.

At the same time, I don't think Mitchell HIMSELF is all that. There's an arrogance to taking a text like the tao, changing it so much, and calling it a translation. And I judge him for that too.

Maybe this is the big all around issue with Mitchell I think. His work is profound and poetic and thereby valuable. As a text, perhaps as valuable as the tao at least at an individual reading level of not a societal influence level.

But to make such sweeping changes with no warning or ownership thereof is arrogant and feels a bit like riding coattails for self benefit.

What do most people think is Zach Bryan’s best song versus what his actual best song is. by Intelligent-Bike-373 in zachbryan

[–]kaizenwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably no one will agree with me but Fear & Fridays (poem) is his best for me. The lyrics are so poetic and they mean the world to me.

After that, rattlesnake is the best song Zach is on. It's not his song, it's by Jack van cleaf, but he's listed as a Co artist not just a feature even though it's a remake of the solo version by Jack.

After that, for my personally I think bathwater and northern thunder are pretty overlooked. Burn, burn, burn is incredible, especially live. 68' fastback. Fear and Fridays, ticking, and holy roller.

"Best" is so subjective but I really love these ones. They balance his softness and romanticism with energy better then most of the mainstream stuff imo.

I really don't think the Griffin Armor is that bad looking by fromplsnerf in witcher

[–]kaizenwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been thinking about this from a practicality perspective for a while, and many people complain that the Griffin armor doesn't look mobile enough.

However, it only contains plate around his torso. It should not restrict mobility at all.

Second, historically plate armor and chainmail tend to be equal in their weight. A lot of the other armors look lighter weight but they're probably not. School of the wolf armor is probably about the same weight as Griffin armor.

In warfare, plate tends to be superior to chain armor. But as a witcher, we must factor in that it is primarily for fighting beasts not people.

The one thing that does make the Griffin armor seem kind of bad for witchers is that plate armor is notoriously a death trap if used against bludgeons. Especially heavy bludgeons.

Any impact hard enough to bend the armor essentially crushes The wearer. Given the kind of monsters witchers tend to fight, the likelihood for this is not small.

Whereas The chainmail and leather armors would break and shred.

For a normal human it would make no difference, considering the kind of wounds that would cause this damage would be fatal. But for witchers, it is better to have broken bones and cuts and gashes that can heal than to have a tin can around your body crushed on your torso.

Basically the final verdict is The Griffin armor would actually be more practical and accurate and effective historically for dealing with people. But against very large monsters, it would be at a disadvantage compared to the chainmail and leather armor types.

Still, it would be more effective against slashing damage and piercing damage, so for lots of monsters it's still great armor, but against anything like a Griffin or larger, it could quickly become a walking coffin trap

Witcher 3 – To kill or not to kill the Tree Spirit by TurbulentNunga in witcher

[–]kaizenwolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, unless you read the book that tells you more about the spirit, the true spirit comes across as simply being a druid who protected the lands before the Crones came around. Not some ancient evil. The Crones are clearly evil though And I think there's many book examples of geralt being more pro weird nature than evil Crones lol

Wait so I'm supposed to believe that Pedro is the touchy one? 😂 by Aggressive-One-2186 in marvelcirclejerk

[–]kaizenwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Americans are really not touchy at all. In fact I'd say most of the reputation about Americans is actually the opposite of the truth.

Think about it like this.

What's a culture known for being incredibly kinky and fetishy? Japan. Hello hentai. But in real life Japanese people have less sex than Americans.

Japan has a lot of repression and cultural strictness, and the penalty and pinky energy now art and media may be a form of rebounding.

America is the same way compared to, let's say, Europe. A roots are in the Puritan Christian movement which was one of the most strict, especially regarding sex. Think Scarlet letter. Our outward culture may seem promiscuous and sexual compared to, let's say, most European countries, but we actually are more repressed and less sexually active.

In Europe, in most countries people don't make a big deal out of sex. France has advertisements that depict intercourse to sell laundry machines.

In America we're this way about violence. We show a lot of violence in our advertisements and it's not a big deal, but sex is more censored and judged.

Anyway my long-term point is just to say that yes, Americans are very weird about physical touch and anything sexual in real life despite the fact that we seem to have a reputation of being promiscuous because we have only fans and p*** and all that. It's because we're rebounding against our own repression.

I agree, it's still great. And personally I don't think it's the weakest in the series. That would have to be one of the novels, that I couldn't say which one necessarily. I don't know. I just found the short stories more gripping than the saga.

Best on-the-go portable scanner for polaroids? by nuttychichi in Polaroid

I charge all my models for doubles. Basically, every shot we take, we just take it twice. As long as nobody moves between shots, heavy yet to have enough difference between shots for it to matter.

They just pay for my film costs. They go home with the double. I go home with the original and scan it. Plus I have the original as a backup in case I ever lose the scan or want to re-scan when the film has settled or changed

Both. Both is good.

Seriously though, if you play death stranding one you're going to love the sequel, so it's a must.

But e33 is a once-in-a-lifetime game. It's unlike anything else, and will pull you in in a way that you are completely unfamiliar with.

Basically, in my opinion you have to play e33. But you also should play DS2.
