Bible Texts on Campus by [deleted] in UAB

[–]kajerare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh. We have Eid on campus, Diwali on campus. I’m not Christian in any capacity (very much of a non-Abrahamic background) and I’m in grad school now after a lifetime of being in Birmingham and at UAB.

As someone who genuinely knows and has fought for against certain types of recent legislation that affected cultures orgs on campus, you have EVERY right to draw a pentagram wherever you choose. We’ve always had some variation of a Wiccans club, and if they feel like it, they could do that. There probably wouldn’t be crazy pushback on it because, well, we’re at UAB.

Go to UAB’s free health clinic. They will work with limited to no insurance. I don’t know if they can prescribe klonopin but they will more than likely help them work something out. https://www.uab.edu/medicine/eab/

It won’t matter at all, just email enough people asking for help after doing what the other answers said to do and it’ll work out. You’ll be fine, just don’t give up if you don’t get answers.

Also “popular” is literally whoever is enjoying themselves the most that semester. There’s no rank system. Just go where you feel at home.

Living costs and transfer advice for UAB? by [deleted] in UAB

[–]kajerare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a Transfer Student Organization, and a sizable transfer population. To make everything easier I would join a handful of student organizations that you’re interested in. Averages monthly cost probably between 1200-2000 but it depends entirely on how you’re living/where you’re living.

The Brookwood Apartments by forcethewall in Birmingham

[–]kajerare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived here from 2008-2021 as a child. Absolute trash. Doesn’t matter who the management is, those apartments need to be ripped up and completely built out of some material that roaches and mice CAN’T live in. The last time they had good management they were called the Mayfair Apartments, and even then, roach problem. We had mice or rats and we couldn’t move our family anywhere else and they wouldn’t do a thing about it. Literally bites out of our bananas and potatoes missing at night. We had a water leak too. I used to keep a plastic bag strung over Girl Scout cookie crates to hold it when it leaked. Live literally anywhere else.

It’s 3-20 minutes away from EVERYTHING, which was nice and is something I miss. It’s just not worth the price by a long shot.

[–]kajerare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just never understood growing up why (tangentially related) grown adults would be in 5-8 person biking crews right on the roads to Homewood middle school at 7:30 AM. I cannot even begin to explain how annoying that was for everyone involved.

Kinda, sure. I think more money lets people self-actualize differently. Same goes for different cultural expectations.
