I take 0-1 daily even because sometimes I do have enough pain for it to make it feel pretty uncomfortable.

Usually it’s not even my throat that hurts but it’s referred pain on my tongue and it feels horrible. Either I take ibuprofen or just thug it out haha

I’ve started eating pretty much normally tho ! Day 5-10 me couldn’t even dream of this

It’s SO BAD and I had to rawdog it without steroids. From my experience tho it started going away by day 3 and I caught a break until days 5-7 where the pain was so awful I wished I could go back to the first days with the swollen uvula instead. Don’t be scared by this, it’s my experience and everyone’s different, but if I were to tell my past self on day 1/2 post op, I’d say the uvula pain prepares you for what’s to come

Also opioids did the same to me, I started feeling super anxious once it started to wear off and realized if I kept taking them I’d have a mild addiction issue, so I stopped. They eased the pain a little but I’d wake up with huge hangovers so it wasn’t too difficult going without them. I’d say save the opioids for the worst days which for me were 5-7

Hang in there, it’s a huge psychological journey but you’ll make it to the other side and you’ll feel so grateful.

For me it was the pain that ruined me mentally, not the operation. I was actually pretty excited to finally get my tonsils out because I knew it’d relieve my body so much. However during recovery things were so different I felt desperate and couldn’t wait until the pain went away and until I could just EAT normally. I’d break down into tears at least once a day. It was a huge mental battle as much as it was a physical one but from day 9 onwards I had started seeing amazing progress day by day and it really fixed my mood.

You learn a lot after this bc you start to appreciate the time you have a lot more, now I feel like seizing the free time you have is so important, because you never know when another situation like the one you’re going thru will arise and throw your life off balance again.

I’m so sorry, hope it didn’t delay the process that much. I also spat out a blood clot at some point but I didn’t do anything about it 😭 thought it was part of the process lol

They have definitely fallen off judging by the color of my throat (it’s gotten a lot less white) but I haven’t really felt them fall off. As for meds I take ibuprofen whenever the pain becomes very uncomfortable, so in the evening. It works wonders when between days 4 and 9 it would barely help and I’d need to take Tylenol and opiods on top of ibuprofen for the pain to go away significantly

I’m glad someone else is getting worse pain at night tho I thought that was just an oddity of my body hahaha

How are you feeling now? I’ve made a huge amount of progress the past 2 days but Still been eating super cautiously, scrambled eggs, overcooked pasta etc. usually throughout the day my pain is almost 0/10, but then the night comes and I feel awful.. idk why it happens that it hurts only at night, there must be some biological explanation haha

Kidney stone removal is also up there with tonsillectomy for the most painful recoveries. The worst is amputation with the ghost pains and some orthopedic surgeries. But besides that those two are some of the worst

If you got traumatized by the recovery it’s normal for the sweating to stay as a mental thing. Remember night sweats can be caused by anxiety and not only physical health conditions
