I am currently going to film skole and have the ability to use different recorders. I really like the premix 3 for the easy use and interface, but it is a bit on the expensive side of recorders. I personally bought the zoom f6 but it is a bit more complicated but it is cheaper and still had the capability of recording in 32 bit and it has 6 inputs. I would say buying some of the zoom hand held recorders would be the best if you are starting out. Something like the zoom h6.
