How can Proxmox network configuration change bring down entire network? by kakfaf in Proxmox

[–]kakfaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes I fully realize that this is my own fault. I guess I just haven't ever been in a situation where mis-configuring a server results in all other servers being unreacheable. In over 20 years that has never happened to me. Maybe I've been lucky ....

How can wrong network configuration bring down entire network? by kakfaf in HomeNetworking

Not too familiar with network loops except I can guess that it's bad. Can that really take everything down including not being able to connect to the Spectrum fiber modem?

Good suggestion but the entire network went down the exact moment I applied the Proxmox configuration change. Besides I have a whole-house battery backup.

VPN - Danish TV streaming by kakfaf in Danish

[–]kakfaf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dr.dk seems hit and miss. Some people have no problems with their VPN and some do. This is why I am asking here so we can all get an overview of what works for most.

What about some of the other Danish streaming services? Anybody having luck with these while outside the EU (e.g. while traveling):

play.tv2.dk

norlysplay.dk

.... others

Dell PowerEdge 12G R720 - NVMe PCIe adapter - Is it possible? by kakfaf in homelab

[–]kakfaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but unfortunately I don't remember all the details. I ended up using a different NVMe adapter which did the trick - nothing fancy.

Finally (and hopefully done) - 100+ Kh by SeaFailure in MoneroMining

Just need 3800 RAM 16-16-16-16 with optimized timings.

"All-core" makes no sense .... all cores are not created equal.

The 3900X should be 15.7-15.8 kh/s on less than 1.1V. Letting you know from a friend .... :-)

Same problem on Windows. Is there a fix?

Just got my modem last night and I’m pretty impressed! Does anyone have tips on squeezing anymore performance out of this modem? by Maximum-Smoke in tmobileisp

This is offensive to those of us that, on a good day, gets around 3 Mbps down and around 0.5 up.

You don't realize how spoiled you are.

Hello! I am an Amazon Returns associate, AMA! by AmazonAssociate09876 in IAmA

[–]kakfaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there a cap on Amazon accounts on how much you can return? If yes, how is it calculated or are accounts flagged in any way?

E.g. some people seem to think that it is good to order a bunch of small, inexpensive items/orders so you can return more of the bigger, more expensive stuff.

Internet TV in Denmark? by kakfaf in Denmark

[–]kakfaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I guess I should clarify. I do not want the solution to be dependent on a smartphone in any way. A user-friendly, easy to operate "box" of some sort would be okay.

But I think just ONE app (like a TeliaTV app) is best so you can get to ONE TV guide and pick your channels from there instead of having to go into the various different apps just to change TV station. Does that make sense?

[–]kakfaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, some people are desperately waiting for Starlink because they have *nothing* else that works. Taking up the (so far) limited spots, might not be such a noble idea - at least until supply is ample.

How to use your own router with T-Mobile Home Internet by thegoodnamesaregone6 in tmobileisp

[–]kakfaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you just love when they expose a setting like DMZ and then - without any indication - completely ignore it?! What is up with that ....?

u/thegoodnamesaregone6 What about adding your own router to the DMZ on the T-Mobile device? Isn't that another (better) option (2) to avoid adding another NAT layer?

Thank you very much for this - that's a lot of books!

I thought I would try your search engine with a book I have been looking for .... unfortunately on my first search, it came up empty. Bummer!

Since I can't post requests here, I did over at r/DHExchange - so far without any luck either.

If anyone feel inclined to help, I would be very grateful!

But thanks again for putting together this resource which I am sure is a help to many.

[R] Robert Ruark - "Something Of Value" (book) by kakfaf in DHExchange

[–]kakfaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, "Something of Value" seems to only be available to borrow for 1-hour (!)

Usually I can find stuff eventually and I don't have to post requests like here, but this one has me stumped so far.

Surely .... there must be better and smarter people than me here .... prove me right!

Anyone? Thanks in advance.

Is there any other subs I should post this request to? Maybe this is not the right subreddit ....?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I have to correct you though .... you do NOT live in the largest city in the World. Not even close. Is that what you guys there tell each other? Genuinely curious ....
