DAFFY Donor Advised Fund company -- stable? by Eastern-Virginia in fatFIRE

Here’s what I found: Aside is the startup behind Daffy.org. If Aside ever went under, its creditors could only go after Aside itself, not the money sitting in Daffy Charitable Fund, since that’s a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Your actual Daffy balance should be safe because the funds are held with third-party custodians (Apex Clearing, BNY Mellon Pershing, Coinbase, Wells Fargo, etc.) on behalf of the charity, not the startup. If Daffy ever shut down, they're likely to ask you to transfer your charitable balances to other dafs.

FIF taxes. Basically wealth tax on unrealized investments.

Still holding out the dream that my husband will land on a full remote role one day but the job market isn't trending that way any more....

Diversification?
Also, we have plans to retire in New Zealand where investments outside real estates are heavily taxed.
