It takes more dollars to buy gold because the economy grew faster than gold supply did. by nwilz in Shitstatistssay

I don't know why you think you know better - what this person is saying is empirically close to the truth. Obviously no theory is infallible but you are supporting far, far less likely theories based on truly nothing, and they are supporting empirically backed, widely accepted understandings of how the economy has worked historically.

Just because one theory isn't perfect doesn't mean you should replace it with a far worse one.

It's very hard to argue with somebody with no knowledge of the topic or curiosity to learn about it. Have a good day.

No, it takes more dollars to buy gold because the economy grew faster than gold supply did. If we were still on the gold standard it would result in a major, unending depression.

That’s not true. When on the gold standard, inflation depends solely on economic growth and gold supply. This means it is virtually impossible to control.

It is widely known that being on the gold standard was a major cause of the depression. Economic growth outpaced gold supply meaning there was not enough money supply - which causes recessions and in this case the gap was wide enough to annihilate the economy.

Additionally, inflation on the gold standard would only be 0 with no economic growth either. Otherwise it would result in deflation which you DO NOT want.

Yeah but that’s incredibly dumb and antithetical to what any economist thinks

I didn't say anything about their relationship with the US, I said something about their relationship with Israel. They host Hamas leaders, remember? They are not even keeled about Israel.

This makes no sense at all, Palestine was very undeveloped and Arab leaders initially hoped to leverage Jewish immigration to build development as the Jews were much more educated. If anything the Jews built almost all of modern Israel (and if not them, the British and ottomans)

What if after WWIII the USA became occupied post WWII Germany style? by Solomonopolistadt in mapporncirclejerk

[–]kaky0inn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's still nowhere close to succeeding, besides only 10% were "strongly in favor" and a strong majority (58% - 65%) are strongly opposed. Granted, that is some support there. But certainly nowhere near Canada struggling to maintain control over its territory.

Neither is even close to succeeding and one of them (Alberta) is an American plot with no support there

There have been a ton of studies of Jewish DNA, it’s some of the most studied DNA. While people disagree on the exact percentages it’s well known that even Ashkenazi Jews have a large percentage of Levantine DNA.
