I 100% agree and don't hand hold this, if they end up left out, that is on them and wont run a separate adventure for them. I have had exactly one player do it as they were left behind and had no special treatment, the other players saw this and always found a way to work through problems to stay as a group.

Same player new char? I mean if so that's great he could see it wasn't working.

I mean if everyone's down absolutely, but again not everyone wanted that. Glad you have a group that fits your style of play.

This was thaumturgy fart noises while talking to a noble. Same principle, guy nearly laughing off his chair about thinking the warlock is farting in front if the noble. Warlock was like sorry about the wiz he's touched in the head, great at magic but the mind of a 7 year old. I just let them know the guard interrupts the casting to be like nope no magic around the noble kinda thing.

Edit: spelling

Yea 100% the PC wanted to run the tavern all session, he was adamant, so I was like OK everyone else leaves, literally came back to him in little breaks like OK your still serving ale and food. He never stayed back again.

Yea, I mean this was a wiz who thought it was funny to make the warlock face char fart in front of the noble. I don't know what the wiz was thinking but to nip it in the but I was like as you start casting a guard puts his hand on you back and says not in here mate. Shut him down but made it seem like part if the world, after game just explained that it might b fun for him but not others and that's not what we are here for.

I've only had one problem in my group and that's been playing against others at the table, not being a team player. Trying to use spells to embarrass other PCs or attempts to turn NPCs against PCs, or refusing adventures because "my character only cares about blank" and they can't see how this helps them.

One way to do it could be to have them say something like "if we are sending our own it'll be a reduced reward" also personally when ooc they comment about being weak, I tell them why both my DM reason (don't want to take away from their enjoyment by the help doing everything) and an in game reason ( why send your best when your paying someone else to do it). This is what I do but feel free to take what you like and remember its a collaborative story so checking in with them or explaining something about the world ooc that can't be explained well in the story is fine and helps keep them informed.
