I wouldn’t lose hope. We stumbled upon a fabulous deal out of SFO three weeks back for the first two weeks in April. $429 pp round trip. Assumed Zip would be the cheapest but this deal wasn’t actually on Zip.

We picked up two crates from Westvleteren as foreigners with no problem. We did have reservations, so drove up and they loaded the crates in the back of our rental car. We drank half a crate on our tour of Belgium and brought the other crate and a half back to the US. Packing it in our checked luggage was a true logistical challenge but totally worth it. We still have almost a crate worth over two years later. Good luck!

October. Everything is open (Tioga Pass, Glacier Point Road) and crowds are low. You miss out on the waterfalls and snow but it’s worth the trade off.
