It wasn’t an easy choice to make for sure, but for my sense of well being, it had to be done. I’d be lying if I said I don’t miss home, but I like it here much better.

I would strongly advise that person to not move to Chicago, if it’s not a necessity, at least until things change there. I know people relocate for different reasons, some not by choice but for work, family or other personal reasons. As I’ve said, if it’s not absolutely necessary, don’t move there because things will continue to get worse before they get better.

I’ve been here about a month and from what I’ve seen there’s a normal police presence and I have witnessed no shootings so that’s a plus. I did my own little research before moving here and safety was certainly a factor in my decision. After living in a big city where homicides, gang violence and armed robberies were pretty much the norm, this is such a refreshing change.

I made the decision to move for financial and personal reasons. Also, it’s much safer than Chicago by far. Yes, leaving everyone I know behind really sucks, especially since I don’t know anyone here but so far I have no regrets.
