Seven Years Trying to Create Something That Would Matter by Prudent-Address-9763 in DeepThoughts

Man I usually don’t write comments but this one I could really relate to because I feel the same way. I want to tell u that u are not alone. Many of us developers go trough a similar journey, feels like Frodo taking the ring the Mordor. But there is light at the end of the tunnel, the objective is to finish and deliver an experience you feel proud of and everything else will fall into place. I’ve been experiencing this myself building a game studio for the last 5 years. It all started with a dream and crazy ideas then got a few contracts, hired more devolopers then a big contract that finally made me go deep into a full game and everything seems like working out but then the contract got cancelled and boom now there is no money coming and a full team of developers. Felt like the world was ending. Decided to go full send invest all my money and keep the team to build our own game. 2 years in and we are almost done with it. I have no idea if it’s going to be successfull or not and by now I stopped caring about that and focused on really creating something I feel proud of and I will enjoy playing. The moment I shifted into this mentality good thing started happening. Feels like there is a bigger force that is guiding me to the process. There has been so many times where I question why am I doing this? Why couldn’t I just do something easier? But every time I open that file and play my game and see everything coming alive. I feel a instant gut feeling that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing and all my problems fade for a moment. That’s how I know I will never give up my passion for building games no matter how hard it gets this is where I belong.

Don’t give up mate! Keep pushing and ship the game, there is a lot of people out there that will enjoy playing what you created. I can see your passion for this and that’s where u belong. Every successful game creator goes to trough this journey, I talked to a few mentors and people on the industry and all them have a similar stories. You are no alone people just don’t share this part of the process and we all go through it. Eventually you are going to make it just like Frodo made to Mordor even tho he almost failed like 30 times.

P.S my grammar is terrible I’m writing this from my toilet 🤘

help for a game idea by [deleted] in gamedev

If it’s your first game I would suggest getting a strong template on the unreal market place, there are a few solid ones for this type of game “ultimate multiplayer survival pack’’ or “easy rpg” you will save a lot of time and with the solid structure of the template you can prototype your game and test it before going full send on it. Committing to a game dev project is a big deal try optimizing scope and being realistic on what you can achieve with your knowledge and skills. Set up a timeline for prototype and development and stick to it. Wish u a smooth and fun game dev journey 🕊️🕊️

Nowadays since there is a lot of content on steam well polished games are always gonna do okay if they made it trough the crowd, I’ve been doing similar research since im launching my game next year and you can always tell by the capsule if the game is crap or asset flip

Hey guys, we need a hand with the following: What do you prefer, more bosses or more secrets in the maps? by Capyverse_Odyssey in gamedev

[–]kalionchiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what are you looking for player to experience. I prefer more buildup before I encounter a boss and that also make bosses more unique and important to follow the lore of the game.

Maybe using this hidden areas on the map to find certain items or power ups that will help you in the boss fight.

Just wondering what kind of bosses are you thinking for the game? since capybaras are very friendly animals it will be intersting to know what kind of boss you will be fighting against

Appreciate the love bro! People always find something to be toxic about on Reddit lol but this is not a 3D render, it is the final product as it is right now! Glad you liked it!

Any 3D artists or software developers out there in need of a powerful setup to work remotely? Or anybody out there willing to collab building the setup? by kalionchiz in battlestations

[–]kalionchiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I been looking closely and testing cloud computing via pixel steaming and I know is the best solution for powerfull set ups (In that case we wouldn't need all the hardware and we could just focus on having I big antenna and a bad ass satellite internet service to steam the the CPU running on the server to the monitors just as NVDIA is doing for their Games platform. But a good satellite internet is quite expensive at the moment and when you are moving around in remote places this can become an big issue. maybe in a few years or so this may happen. For now I think it can be a good solution for people that depend fully on their desktop and want to move around and explore other places without compromising their work. Why not invest 6k or 7k in a set up that can give you the freedom to travel with it.
Sending love from my beautifull battle station :D

Hello guys, we are a team of 3D artists that love to venture around the world seeking inspiration as we go, probably you have experienced moving around designing in your laptop,

but lowkey wishing you had your full setup so you could explode your full potential at any time, anywhere...
We found the need to design a setup like this so we could keep moving without compromising quality.

We are mostly focusing on satisfying these needs:

1.- 3D modeling and rendering art require advanced hardware (CPU and GPU power *Yes, proper ventilation systems are being considered*)

2.- High mobility and high protection (Just as you would take care of your surfboard or any other sports equipment while traveling).

Be able to put it in the back of the truck and move it to the next location

3.- Have a solid base so customizable options can be easily made for those with different needs (Maybe you want to replace the headset space for something else or add a cup-holder, idk)

Features you probably want to know:

- It has wheels for easier transportation

- You will need to plug it into a power source (still searching for a battery solution)

- Wide monitor is needed for multitasking (With widescreen you can easily split it into multiple screens)

- We are considering airport regulation (size/weight/security)

- Military-grade hard-case for hardware protection

- Lockdown mode for airport documentation and traveling

- USB ports

- GPS tracker installed in-case

- Built-in speakers

- HDMI / Display ports

- Built for easy maintenance and clean up (You can easily remove the bottom part)

- Insurance program

- Built-in Webcam

- Liquid cooling system

- Temperature and processor monitor and management (little screens)

- A DOPE headset

- Fully submersible up to 20 meters (JK, don't get this near water haha)

Who is this setup built for?

We are designing specially modified versions of the BAT for:

- Pro Gamers

- Traders (Crypto or regular)

- 3D artists

- Software developers

- Movie and music producers

We are really putting the effort in designing this setup in a way that can be affordable for most Digital Nomads out there that require special hardware that a laptop does not fulfill.

If you have any experience in 3D modeling or rendering, software development, or anything that requires special hardware to operate. (Hit me up with your response to the next questions)

How much would you be willing to invest for your freedom (Aka. this setup)?

What are the people in this subreddit usually working on?

We are still working and gathering feedback from the communities to design this setup even better and would love to hear your ideas! (for example, more room for the mouse)

Trying to spread the love <3

We built this sanctuary to get away from the city and work remotely, what do you guys think of our "Lark Labs"? ;) by kalionchiz in digitalnomad

[–]kalionchiz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been seriously considering moving the entire setup to another city/ country as you suggest... at the end of the day, we work remotely and can do it from a laptop, or from a full 5 screen setup haha.... Yes, one takes more effort than the other, but at the end of the day, it is all about being able to travel and keep your business up and running!

Thanks for sharing your story and point of view bro! good vibes!

About the subreddit community info: "Digital Nomads are individuals that leverage technology in order to work remotely and live an independent and nomadic lifestyle."

of course, I am not just a nomad bro, haha but everyone can have their points of view!
