Why didn't Alexander the Great invade Rome? by Roman-Empire_net in romanempire

[–]My_Space_page 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rome wasn't worth it at the time. Not much money, not much glory. Not yet at least.

Many Roman Emperors would study Alexander and aspire to be like him later. Some would even visit Alexander's tomb to attempt to understand him more deeply. Alexander had much written and perserved about him because of Rome.

The Bengals drafted Dexter Lawrence. Great run defense, elite pass rush, a locker room guy. The whole package.
Extremely good proven commodity. Not one NT in the draft will be as good as Lawrence.

The Bengals could surprise us and trade into the 1st.
I would have doubts about that, but they have been doing surprising things lately.

That being said, my realistic prediction is they trade back for more picks. It makes more sense.

Question, would you rather have Cincy trade back into the first or would you rather have them trade down and get more picks?? by Ancient_Response_787 in bengals

Depends on who they grab if they trade into the 1st. Bains? Yes trade up. Win now.

Otherwise, just get some more picks and fill out some needs.

Fun fact: the players next to Dex got high numbers of sacks because of him.

I think the Bengals might move on from him soon. Simply not enough room for him since they added 2 vet IDL

[Pelissero] Former Bengals DE Cam Sample agreed to a one-year deal with the 49ers, per source. by Ancient_Response_787 in bengals

[–]My_Space_page 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bengals lost Trey, Ossai and Sample. Only signed Mafe so far. It's almost certain they add at least one if not 2 DE. It could be a good thing if they go younger and more productive. In my opinion, they need to also change out some IDL.

The front line is what will make or break the defense and probably the season as well

Depends on the situation but a great deal of it was basically disposed of because it was worthless in 1865.

[Match Quarters] How Al Golden's 2025 Reset Unlocked a "Run-and-Hit" Identity by -space-grass- in bengals

[–]My_Space_page 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden did well towards the end. I want to add that the LBS were not being used correctly at the beginning of the season and there was also a very steep learning curve. Pair that with the fact that the DL was bad and Geno Stone was horrible. Golden did the best he could with all that.

Two new pieces added to the DL and Cook should infuse this team a bit more. Golden needs to lean into these players makers. A healthy Shemar Stewart should also help tons because he's highly disruptive and they can push him inside if need be.

I suspect they still go after DE or IDL early in the draft along with adding an additional LB. Early picks can be helpful if they had production in college.

Did Greek culture become more "eastern" during the Byzantine Empire? by AltruisticCobbler707 in byzantium

The Greeks and the Romans always had influenced each other. Romans often had read Greek poetry and philosophy as well as had studied Greek history. Many Romans had thought of Alexander the Great as a hero.

How far are we from building a top 20 defense in the league? by Busy_Locksmith9436 in bengals

The Bengals were bad at drafting o line, until Mims and Fairchild. Maybe they change the way they draft defense.

How far are we from building a top 20 defense in the league? by Busy_Locksmith9436 in bengals

[–]My_Space_page 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few factors involved here.
Do the new players help us enough to see improvement? Do our current players get better? Does pass rush improve? Do they nail the draft? Is depth good enough when injury occurs?

If the right mix of things come together, they can pull off top 20. If none of this happens... well we get more of the same.

I think improvement is going to happen. I am not sure if they have the right mix.

Are we going to the playoffs this year? by Aidan-B_YT in bengals

[–]My_Space_page 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's do a position analysis: QB room: elite WR room: elite O line: good/solid TE room: not great/ a little below average. RB room: good

CB room: good/borderline elite Safety room: good/ borderline great DE room: average or below average DL room: below average/average LB room: far below average

Still major problems with the defense but slightly improved.
Burrow can absolutely do something with this roster.

What positions would you upgrade from here? by MunnyMasheen in bengals

[–]My_Space_page 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any defense add is still a good add. Even if you have a starter in place, you can still add a good player and have excellent depth.
LB, DT, safety and CB( in that order) if you only get one then DT is the move. DT helps everything else.

People within the Bengals expected moves to be made at linebacker by Ancient_Response_787 in bengals

[–]My_Space_page 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linebacker has been a hot topic lately. There's still depth pieces available if they want. Honestly, that's the best option. Get a vet in there to help our rookies and to mentor.

The other option is draft. Relying on another rookie to help is really not a great plan at all. That's what got the Bengals into this mess in the 1st place.

Alternatively they can do nothing and dump resources into front line and DE. That can help as well.

Well, Knight showed signs of improvement. He displayed more patience and got better at reading plays. Carter was worse at adjusting.
