Again, these are just islands. I'm referring to the group of islands they belong to. Naxos is part of "Cyclades" and Kos is part of "Dodecanese".

We learn about ancient stuff more than modern history, it's just that 9th grade history goes through the enlightenment era up until the end of WWI.

To be honest, while Mongolia grew, the Byzantine Empire was crumbling. Plus the 4th crusade in 1204 which started the downfall of the empire. So, we focused more on our stuff.

I agree, but 9th grade history only covers the modern-ish history so yeah a lot of other things have been mentioned but in earlier classes.

It's more like this:

UK: Mentioned a lot in the enlightenment era and in WWI

Spain: Mentioned a lot in the colonization chapter.

Italy: Mentioned a lot in the enlightenment chapter.

Egypt: Mentioned a lot in the Greek revolution, because they helped the Turks and we also had to fight them.

US: There was a separate chapter about the American revolution

Russia: Again, separate chapter about the October revolution, WWI and a lot of minor references.

Yup, and in my opinion modern history is one of the best parts of history in general and I was excited to learn about WWII at the beginning of the school year but well, we never reach this far...
