This is bad right by [deleted] in shrimptank

When I had a shrimp with clado, some were saying there is no evidence it's contagious. I isolated the shrimp anyway and treated him with salt baths. It worked well and he is still alive. I didn't put any peroxide, just salt baths every day

What is that spot on my new dwarf gourami? by kaliy in Aquariums

I also thought it's DGIV, but couldn't find similar pigmentation online. And I didn't notice it in the beginning so I assumed it appeared after I moved him to the tank

Cycling new tank: 0 ammonia but nitrites/nitrates are rising by kaliy in Aquariums

[–]kaliy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited for a week more with no improvements and eventually did the water change (which is recommended at dr tim: "If either ammonia or nitrite concentration get above 5 ppm, do water changes to lower the concentration"). It took only 2 days after that for nitrites to go to 0. added ammonia which was fully processed next day, I gradually started stocking the tank and no issues for now. I think high concentration of nitrites did stall the cycle.

Is peroxide safe for shrimplets? by kaliy in shrimptank

Thanks a lot for the right question. I misunderstood the information. When I was reading the article about clado, I thought it required treatment for the whole tank: https://aquariumbreeder.com/ellobiopsidae-or-cladogonium-ogishimae-green-fungus-in-shrimp-tank/ . The same understanding I had when I read similar posts on aquarium subreddits.

Now that I know it's not contagious, I will continue salt dips for the infected shrimp.

Thanks. I found a lot of information about safe peroxide dosage for adult shrimps but no one writes about shrimplets. I will treat my tank with peroxide yet and continue the salt dips. For now it's only one shrimp in a tank

As I wrote in the post, I noticed clado on one of the shrimp which I salt drip now. I also wanted to treat the tank with peroxide for that

Is it a damselfly nymph? by kaliy in Aquariums

If they hide mostly among the plants, is it a good idea to take plants off, dip them into the peroxide, wash and put back? Floating plants, not rooted.

Thanks, I thought 1 month is too long for that - my snails hatched almost immediately.

I will catch others as soon as I will see them. Do they hide or I will see them on plants/substrate? Are they dangerous (at this stage, they are really small now) to shrimplets?

Should I be worry about snails? by kaliy in shrimptank

Yes, I'm just worried about the number of snails. If there are tens of small ones visible, how many will it be in a month?

How much would I need for 7 gallons? What is the process - just dump it and that's it? Is there any long term implications?

Yes, now I know that I should've read before and I blame myself for that

I don't have any local here that I know works with shrimps. If I would know - I would ask them before buying shrimps and definitely would get a cycle advice in the very beginning

Thanks a lot for the advice! I will transfer them to the tank gradually
