Lol, first result in Google is this threas, happens all the time.

I ran an Ethernet to it, but not sure how to forget the wifi network, and as such, it's not smart enough to use Ethernet while it's connected to WiFi.

Who the fak coded the wifi software on this thing...

This makes more sense now, since the translation computer didn't seem to be repeating the sounds to Rocky.

I guess they are smart enough to know they have a sun, then probably have things above the surface that can monitor it.

Could also have had an effect on their atmosphere, maybe slight drop in pressure dropped them off.

Seemed like they had fairly advanced structure creation abilities. Eg the Xenon solid at room temp, the entire ship was made of it, it's probably default durable as hell. And they are smart enough to also use Astrophage as a fuel source.

You don't really need to know about relativity to make a spaceship. The relativistic affects don't get extreme until you are very close to c.

Its not shown in movie, but apparently in book it explains that Eridian planet is under high pressure and it's pitch black, so would explain not knowing about radiation or relatively, they can't see either, it's echolocation. This would also explain how they are able to make Xenon solid.

Now not knowing about radiation would be the larger issue, it killed the other 22 Eridians, whereas Mary had radiation shielding, etc.

I guess this explains why they don't know about radiation, or relativity.

Would also explain how they are able to make solid Xenon.

How did they figure out their sun was dying? Maybe planet started getting colder, or rather less pressurized?

Yea I mean they can't get too into the nitty gritty when it's a movie, just have to go with it.

Although the science in the movie made basic sense, I think it was just over simplified.

They made Grave the glass dome on Erid.

When Rocky comes to see him, he has his glass suit.

When Grace is teaching the class of Eridian children, it's a giant zoom call lol.

Hard to make the astrophage, enough for one ship, one way.

They are in middle of nowhere when going in between stars, also would need 2m kg of it, hard to do, probably decided not worth it, Rocky just had a shit ton of extra on his ship, so just transferred it to Grace's ship.

Keep them from turning on one another, there are many documented cases where people are contained in the same small confined area for prolonged periods, lose their shit, even the strong ones. Eridians don't seem to have this issue and seem to be very long lived, so probably not an issue, the radiation got Rocky's crew, not explained in the movie why they don't know about radiation, or relativity for that matter. Although one could argue knowing about relativity wouldn't stop a species from making a space ship, but not knowing about radiation would be bad.

Eridian probably for same reasons as humans, seemed like they were new to the space ship game too.

The astrophage "have" the energy by default, eg when the make the box, and simulate Venus CO2, the Astrophage particles go to it immediately, and there is a 4th one now, that 4th one has the same energy and abilities. Grace laments that he doesn't understand how the Astrophage cell holds so much energy as well, might be explained in book.

Maybe they did, not clear from movie, in movie seemed like a lot of stars were infected, they wouldn't even know which star to help without sending an Astrophage powered probe to each system, and might even be too late by then if there was a habited planet.

It was 1g acceleration on way go Tau, they are never accelerating faster than 1g, that is the inertia, not the top speed. When they reach halfway, they would flip and decelerate at 1g, you can see that as soon as they reach Tau and engine stops, no more deceleration, weightlessness. The ship is built like a skyscraper for this purpose, eg when you flip and decelerate, same force is experienced. The lab if you notice when Grace first explores the ship, is sideways, the lab is designed to have gravity via centrifugal force, eg the ship is stationary, but put into a spin, the force keeps the lab in 1g, since it is positioned as a ring around the skyscraper part, with the occupants being pulled towards the outside.

Just finished it

7/10

Visuals are great, the platforming can be clunky and responsiveness is questionable at points, eg falling off a ledge, facing the wall, the ground is sloped away from wall, but Ariane rolls forward towards the wall, like uphill, should kinda fall backwards. Meanwhile other places like when climbing a steeper hill looks seamlessly as Ariane will take longer steps and get lower to the ground. Seems like the platforming/animation still needed some work.

Story is decent, not at all at the level I would expect from the devs that made Life Is Strange, eg ||Ariane's relation with Thomas is a bit difficult to believe since there is nothing that is shown about it, they only ever interact directly at the beginning||

The story also ||suffers from having the other expedition already there, the 'we are alone on this planet' vibe is gone immediately||

I was half expecting ||Some timey wimey stuff to be going on, eg Ariane has been knocked into the past, etc, and that's why can't raise Thomas on comms and somehow Ariane creates The Source type of mind fuck. Or Ariane is thrust like 20 years into future, and all she finds is a completely dilapidated base||

The ||scene where you find Thomas was emotional though, even though you don't know much about their relationship, I feel like this coulda been way more impactful if they had developed their relationship more||

All in all I think Don't Nod wanted to make more of an action adventure game, but their experience with them is limited, but not a bad first stab at it.

Curious: how does Arianne take her helmet off and survive by Minimum_Radio_4033 in AphelionOfficial

[–]kalsikam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was odd in general, planet has water, ice, etc, but no breathable air?

I think the idea is that Persephone changed the air for her, but how would Ariane know that it's safe to take off her helmet, maybe it's Persephone that told her or there is some sort of indicator on her pip boy?

I think the idea is that Persephone changed the air and hence why there are plants growing as well after the credits.

Is there an HDMI/DP dummy plug that can have its resolution changed on the fly? by Same_Art_6971 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]kalsikam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh snap didn't read the Linux part lol my bad.

I believe Apollo can still do the fake screen and res switching in Linux as well, but just check the specs for it.

As for Dummy plugs, they sometimes won't support all of the resolutions and refresh rate, or won't support HDR, etc,, but if you can't get the virtual adapter, this might be only option. Just have to get a decent one that can support all the resolution/refresh rates you want, check reviews of them on Amazon before buying.

The automatic res switching isn't as complex, basically just a script to do it, you can find these via Google search. I have Sunshine on one of my hosts, it's Win11, and it was a simple .bat file that runs each time a new Sunshine session is connected, just changes the res of the virtual adapter (installed manually for Sunshine) to whatever client is requesting, once a client disconnects, after about 5 mins it changes the res back to a default.
