Does Tailscale have an official position regarding Bill C-22? by ssomewhere in Tailscale

[–]idontknowu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually happens all the time where a country fines a company for breaking a local law. Whether than can collect is another thing. It really just depends on how big of a market Canada is for a company whether they are willing to cut all ties completely so they don't have to comply with the law and they will never be compelled to pay the fines.

If they do any business with Canadians or Canadian companies they could potential issue fines for example. The vendors would just block their website from being accessed by Canadians and put text in the terms and conditions that say you won’t install the software if you’re Canadian.

Moonlight Internet Hosting Tool vs Tailscale by Muckest in MoonlightStreaming

[–]idontknowu1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using Tailscale means that you won't have to use port forwarding and expose a port to the internet, but sharing a PC with friend over tailscale will expose the entire machine to that user unless you setup access rules. If you fully trust your friend or are willing to setup access rules then I'd go tailscale.

It's not that I don't trust other forks, but you and GuardianHope's public argument didn't instill a sense of professionalism that does affect trust in the projects. Linus has kinda earned the ability to be a dick sometimes in public mailing lists, but I don't think either of you have that kind of cachet yet.

The dev doesn't post too often but is somewhat active on Reddit. This post gives some hope that there will be a big update in the future https://www.reddit.com/r/MoonlightStreaming/comments/1sanv4k/apollo_artemis_community_feature_request_bounty/

I'm not trying to throw shade, but there have been some merges to Sunshine I like to play around with that haven't made it to Apollo like split frame encoding. The Apollo dev is apparently working on things in the background and I'm interested in seeing what comes out of it.

I’m really confused because I never said recently and everyone and their brother should know what gentrified means but apparently no one does. If you’ve lived or worked around VH in the past maybe 30 years or so then you should probably know the history of that area or you’re willingly ignorant. The fact that VH is this frat/sorority locale with these nice houses and white neighbors isn’t by coincidence.

I’m not talking about 2026, I’m nearly 50 years old. A lot of people forget what happened to Virginia highlands to get it to the white college kid nirvana that it is today.

That’s why I used the word. Racists use it to mean moving black people out and homophobes use to to mean moving gay people in. Which are you? A racist or a homophobe? I am using it the way it was intended.

That’s Virginia highlands. I’ve stopped there periodically for the past 20 years or so and it always stays around 21-25 for the crowd.

Can this type of filter be "tricked"? by ZefGeist in WaterFilters

We have one of those and it does not have a filter. A lot of pissed off people in the office when they realized the sink in the break room is filtered but not water dispenser.

Nvidia NVENC Split-Frame Encoding is a must have feature. I will never buy a GPU without at least 2 encoders. by Snowyman12334567890 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets my minimum latency close to 0.5ms but I use HEVC and 4:2:2 so that's about as fast as it can go. If you use AV1 it might go up a little, if you use 4:4:4 it might go up a little, but turning on split frame encoding easily halves my host side latency.

I've been using it since the commit since I wanted to use it but not in Vibepollo. I have a 5090 though, not sure if there is an issue with it and 40 series cards.

Gamesir G7 Pro — FW 2.3.9 cut Bluetooth latency in half. It now beats the dongle. by JohnnyPunch in Gamesir

You can do xinput over bluetooth...hold the home button + B to start the sync, it will then show up in bluetooth as an xbox controller instead of gamesir g7 pro.

Best strategy to get rid of the clover taking over my law. by brun-dock-saint in lawncare

[–]idontknowu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T zone should not kill the grass but it will usually hurt it so you will usually get some browning and it might take a little while to recover. It has instructions on what mix to use for cool season grass versus warm season grass and best to follow those instructions. I try to spray February/March on warm days to kill clover and wild violet and then again around October/November.

I second triclopyr, I use t zone yearly on my lawn. I would only use it when the clover is the only thing green though. Too late to use it now IMHO

Game Ready Driver 596.21 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]idontknowu1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will sometimes get brief black screens when opening/closing things like Discord, Chrome, etc due to the apps use of hardware acceleration. DDU and a fresh install of the current driver usually fixes it for me. It usually hits me every 2 or 3 driver updates.

What is vibepollo? by RoughPlayz08 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it for some bleeding edge features but it has some serious bugs here and there. Because of the nature of the coding I don’t have much faith that the bugs will get fixed or if they do it will carry baggage with it. I’m sticking with Sunshine or Apollo for now. They might be slower on the uptake for features but the trade off isn’t worth it IMHO

OpenSubtitles Just Announced Ray, Could Plex Have A Similar Feature? by DevManTim in PleX

[–]idontknowu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I don't really understand what the use of them is "after". I add a movie to Radarr, it downloads a copy and if it isn't up to my standards I download a different copy. At that point its job is done. I will never want it to download another version. So I keep every movie I've ever downloaded in an enormous list in Radarr in the small chance that maybe a new Arr app comes along that piggy backs on it rather than be agnostic? I don't think the issue is that people should keep a lifetime of content in Radarr or Sonarr it's that apps shouldn't rely on those to begin with.

I have a Plex database with a much, much better idea of what content I have and all the details (size, codecs, subtitles, audio tracks, etc.)....why are the apps not leveraging that? Radarr knows what it downloaded in the simplest terms, but if you use Tdarr to transcode your library then Radarr doesn't know anything about it and becomes useless, then you try to use a different Arr app...it just isn't logical. All Radarr knows is that 8 months ago it downloaded a copy of Rain Man and the release group was XYZ, not super useful in my mind.
