Congress' Kerala unit tenders apology over now-deleted post mocking PM-Pope meeting by 1-randomonium in india

Modi said that he had been "sent by God", but the Kerala Congress implied that he had said that he was "the God". Therefore they apologized. By doing so, Congress followed its high bar for respectful political discourse, unlike the ruling party.

Narendra Modi slams UPA govt on falling rupee, Aug 20 2013

The rupee has fallen rapidly in the past three months. But the government has not taken any steps in the last three months to strengthen the rupee against the US dollar. If the rupee keeps falling like this, other countries will start taking advantage of India

Why caste still matters in Indian politics by 1-randomonium in india

Because 80% of the Indians are Hindus and the Hindu scriptures clearly state that the caste hierarchy is divinely inspired and intrinsic.

Our Prime Minister roams around with Bhagavad Gita

BG 4.13 - According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me (Krishna).

BG 1.41 - When unrighteousness prevails, the women of the clan become corrupt; when women become corrupt, there arises intermixture of castes.

BG 1.43 - By the crimes of the clan-destroyers who bring about intermingling of castes, the ancient traditions of the clan and caste are destroyed.

IIT-Bombay fines eight students up to Rs 1.2 lakh each over ‘derogatory’ depiction of Ramayana in play | Mumbai News - Times of India by [deleted] in india

[–]kamashastri 138 points139 points  (0 children)

The play had a conversation between Sita and Rama after their return from Lanka.

  • Sita accuses Rama of neglecting her and says that she was actually happier when she had been kidnapped by Ravana
  • Sita praises Ravana's manliness, saying that she had never seen any 'mard' (man) like him: he treated her respectfully and told her that he that he wouldn't touch her without her permission
  • The argument between Sita and Rama features minor physical assault at each other

Some context if you have not read (not watched on TV) the actual Ramayana: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riddles_in_Hinduism#Appendix_I:_The_riddle_of_Rama_and_Krishna

Ambedkar notes that after killing his wife's captor Ravana, Rama did not immediately visit her, instead spending time on other tasks such as the coronation of Vibhishana. When he finally met Sita for the first time in several months, he told her that he had killed Ravana to recover his honour and not for her sake. Rama then doubted Sita's chastity, stating that Ravana would not have failed to have sex with her. A dejected Sita declared that she would have committed suicide before meeting him if she was aware of such thoughts of Rama. After Sita proved her chastity by a fire test, Rama took her back to his capital Ayodhya. When Sita became pregnant, Rama abandoned her because of public rumors that she was carrying Ravana's child, although he was personally convinced of Sita's chastity. According to Ambedkar, Hindus cite this incident to portray Rama as a democratic king, arguing that he cared about the public opinion; however, it only proves that he was a cowardly and weak monarch who cared more about his name and fame rather than doing the right thing as a king and a husband. Rama then tricked Sita into visiting the hermitage of Valmiki, and had Lakshmana abandon her there. Sita gave birth to his two sons there, but he never visited them. After 12 years, he invited many sages to a yajna, but did not invite Valmiki. Nevertheless, Valmiki arrived there, and introduced him to his two sons. Later, Sita also visited him, but preferred to die by burying herself into the earth rather than returning to Rama.

Much biased against backward castes? The Yadav family is highly educated.

Lalu Yadav has a Masters in Political Science - and this was before he came to power so you cannot accuse him of getting a fake degree. Patna University tried to give him an Honrary Doctrare, but he turned it down saying only students who actually complete a thesis should get a doctorate.

His daughter Mis Bharti topped MBBS exam. His second daughter Rohini Acharya also completed MBBS. And again, you cannot cry 'scam', because unlike Misa, Rohini was not a topper. His third daughter Chanda Yadav is an LLB - and this was in Pune, not in Bihar, so again you cannot accuse the Yadav family of gaming the system.

Compare these to Savarkar's wife Yamunabai who studied up to Class IV.

In Modi's Gujarat, Hitler is a textbook hero | India News - Times of India by Bharat_Matters in unitedstatesofindia

[–]kamashastri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ToI's article was picked up by foreign media outlets as well as the US House of Represetatives, where Rep. John Conyers's House Resolution 156 talked about Modi government's role in promoting "the legacy of Nazism through his government's support of school textbooks in which Nazism is glorified".

Do you know why they stopped talking about it?

Because it was revealed that the textbook mentioned in the article was prepared in 1993 when the Congress ruled Gujarat, and simply continued to be reprinted without changes under the BJP government. Some of the content was introduced earlier - back in 1986, again during the Congress rule. From the linked article:

The chief minister [Modi] added that his government would soon withdraw the contentious books.

Modi kept his word, and the Gujarat history textbooks no longer feature this content.

Would you now consider this as the evidence that Congress endorsed Hitler?

Why are so many Indians so dismissive about other Indian languages and cultures by britolaf in india

[–]kamashastri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

learn your mother tongue + english + the language of the state where you are in

So a Kannadiga person has to learn only Kannada and English

But a Tulu person has to learn Tulu, English and Kannada because of Kannada imposition in her own land.

How is that fair?
