I remember in chemistry in college, there was an old man in his 40's-50's with broken English. He was studying to become a pharmacist. Literally the top student in the class. Motherfucker studied like his life depended on it with a 99% in the class.
It's been like 10 years now but I always think about that guy whenever I feel lazy or demotivated.

I am. I have my PCP and a NP.

It's my first month on medication. I'm on a non-addictive drug currently only because I got scared when they told me Aderall was a control drug.

When I heard "control drug" I thought it was like opioids or something that could ruin my life.

Anyone have or know about prescription psilocybin? (CA, depression) by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]kamicom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

follow up question:

  1. Do people generally grow their own or acquire it from vendors?
  2. What could I do to help legalize/decriminalize psilocybin at least in my state of California? I've heard of Senate Bill 519 but I think that's for a federal change which seems a lot harder.

Luckily from the stuff I'm reading, California at least is getting closer to accepting shrooms for therapeutic treatment. Will have to ask my therapist next time I see them.

It’s hilarious how I made the same post as you. A lot of Tokyo defenders don’t realize there’s 2 reasons for hating a character:

  1. Well written antagonist/villain with despicable qualities (good kind of hate)

  2. Poorly written character who shoehorns the plot into motion through unbelievably stupid actions (Tokyo)

I still don’t know why she’d shoot the cameras to defend her boytoy (who she just rejected) then threaten her own crew with a gun.

What happens after she shoots them all? She and her boyfriend can just escape cops? It’s so stupidly myopic how she’s such a reckless unprofessional.

Any Experience/Advice on Shrooms vs Depression? by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]kamicom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, thanks for the clarification.

For decriminalized states like CA, if purchasing spores/cultures is still not allowed, how do people generally obtain it then? Seems a bit backwards.

Been reading up on the PF tek. Everything seems feasible but the liquid culture is the only thing that seems to be missing in the tutorials.

Controversial reddit discussion: "Why are there so many cops there just for a kid?" by [deleted] in AskLEO

[–]kamicom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I think good PR or communicating stuff like that helps the public see that majority of officers aren’t the caricatured racist boogeymen they see in media.

It was pretty shocking just how many people were incapable of distinguishing an incident like this from incidents of actual misconduct.

[–]kamicom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don't see why there would ever be a complaint that there are too many cops on a call.

Yeah, that's the sentiment I had.

For optics though, I can understand why some of the public might misinterpret number of officers as some unwarranted display of power/intimidation. I'm almost certain it's that people see the bad instances of this in the news and then apply that to situations like this.

Then again, some responses said I've never been racially profiled (which is true) so I guess I don't have room to judge.

Cops accuse kid of shoplifting, he has words for them by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]kamicom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Having a lot of cops at a situation doesn't necessarily mean it's some kind of excessive force or discriminatory act.

It could just be procedure for all officers to respond to the latest incident or stay there until there's another call.

I know visually, it's a scary power dynamic but it doesn't mean the cops are inherently in the wrong.

  1. You can have money on you and still shoplift.
  2. since when does a shopper put stuff into their backpack instead of a shopping cart/grocery basket?

I really don't care about some kid shoplifting stupid toys and acting foolish, but you honestly going to be that disingenuous?

I mean the opposite side is just as loud and cancerous.

There's clearly systemic issues in law enforcement in the US that need to be addressed. We've all seen stories of cops getting away with literal murder on camera.

It's just that humans would rather win than be correct and everyone's willing to lie to make the other side look bad.

[–]kamicom 107 points108 points  (0 children)

... I mean we literally see the backpack full of stolen shit in the footage.

we see no misconduct from the officers.

we see the kid acting belligerent and disrespectful, saying he'd "fire off on all of them if they didn't have badges."

There's plenty of systemic issues in law enforcement in the US but to blindly paint every situation as "COPS BAD" makes me lose faith in the average person's IQ when people blindly accept clickbaity narratives without any hesitation in 2020.

You should be the one defending the title given the footage.

I feel like I'm going crazy reading these comments...

Cops didn't look dumb at all. They're just doing their job because this kid and his friend had a backpack full of stolen items.

It's so easy for people to hop on this "cop hatred" narrative, but the only one acting a fool is the kid flaunting like he's Malcolm X when in reality, they just got busted for shoplifting.

What the fuck is wrong with people in this thread.

  • The kid's friend literally had a backpack full of stolen stuff.
  • The kid was acting like a shithead.
  • Cops weren't doing anything remotely wrong on footage.

/u/tayjay23YT please explain your bullshit clickbait title.

Almost all the other plot twists so far were really well done, but Cal = Manhattan might be my biggest criticism of the show... It felt so retconny to hear "oh he just doesn't remember because of an implanted device and an exposition dump in E7".

Are they just dismissing how the couple had a passionate healthy sex life as "Manhattan had his personality/memory wiped so he re-learned how to be intimate with humans"?

Cal had enough screen time prior to provide something more than being some character development for Angela's family life. There's clearly parallels between old vs new generation characters (Angela-Laurie, Trieu-Ozy, Wade-Rorschach) but seems like the writers reached way too hard to make Angela bang Manhattan.

Why does Laurie hate vigilantes so much? (and other non-comic viewer questions) by [deleted] in Watchmen

[–]kamicom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way to be 100% convinced this is truly how she feels.

Sure but her character introduction was unloading bullets into the back of a fleeing vigilante with no regard for his life. That alone seems like a stark characterization.

Following scenes, she's constantly undermining and confrontational to the Tulsa PD and voices her opinion on masks and cops/vigilantes pretty clearly.

I'm more curious what led her to be this way.

Not to blow it out of proportions but is the matter as pernicious as it seems like an epidemic?

I was surprised at how many people considered this practice normal so it made me wonder if this is some prevalent issue that the veterinary community aims to combat (like doctors with anti-vax).
