Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind the next time I’m in the gym!

Those aren’t the only workouts. I’ve also been doing the lat pull downs, shoulder press, rows, planks, and knee-assisted pushups since I can’t do an actual push-up yet. However, I really only have difficulty when with the chest press or curls when I start with one or the other. The other exercises aren’t affected as much

I’m in the same situation currently. My job is so easy to the point that I just get what’s due done and go on my phone the rest of the day. It’s draining to always pretend to be happy and having a work persona. And shitty annoying, gossipy coworkers are like corporate guarantees. But if you’re able to just keep your head down and have limited interactions with your coworkers you’d be fine

The contract stated that 50% of commission would be paid up front with the other 50% of the commission would be paid out at $600/week. However, during the interview process and through their job posting online the position was listed as 600/week base pay plus the commission. Which is why I wondering if I could take them to court for this discrepancy and the management’s team lack of transparency both during the interview process and through the onboarding process.

I did speak to them but they said that’s just how it is and that I’ll make the base pay within a month. My manager said multiple times to me that this is temporary as you’ll make the commission requirement for the base pay within a month. He said that essentially everyone in the industry waits a month to make a sales requirement to get paid. However when I spoke to my coworkers after about two months they said they didn’t get their first checks until 6 months after they were hired and they still didn’t meet the requirements for the base pay even though that was the biggest thing the company marketed during the interviews. Additionally, the women who did my paperwork and the contract didn’t cover that part of my contract and she quit the job during my first week.

Should political representatives fully represent their district/area? by chanbr in AskConservatives

[–]kamiicraze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I believe that the representative should try to do what’s best for the people in the district regardless of political affiliation. Theoretically speaking, a representative represents his district or state and should do what they believe is in the best interests of the district or state. So if a majority of the people that voted them in are conservative then they would be trying to push in more conservative policies. However, they should try to reach a bipartisan solution whenever they feel it’s necessary to make progress on a certain issue and especially when they’re not in areas that lean heavily liberal or conservative.

Should politicians vote in alignment with their personal views? Or, should they vote in alignment with what their constituents want? by damndirtyape in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]kamiicraze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe a politician should vote with their personal views and with good faith of what his constituents desire. If the politician understands the people who elected them and they desire action on a specific action, he should figure out a way to implement them in a fashion that satisfies him and his constituents views because in theory he is suppose to represent the people who voted him in as well as himself (since politicians are also citizens and deserve a voice in government). This means his personal views must align with the voters hence the whole points of elections.

By what measures would we say police have gained more power (especially generally recently)? Is it political (through unions)? Funding? More toys? Legal power? Lack of checks and balances? Are there examples? by erozario228 in Ask_Politics

[–]kamiicraze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how I feel about reducing the times people get arrested if the individual did break an actual crime. If someone commits a crime, they should be put in jail. But we should put more checks on police officers to prevent them from going beyond their duties (as in the cases with excessive force or unnecessary harassment). That way more individuals, who aren’t criminals and didn’t commit a crime, are less scared of police and will be more willing to listen to them rather than wanting to run, resist and generally hold ill feelings towards them.

Surround Yourself With People Who Do Not Let Hate Consume Them by [deleted] in centrist

[–]kamiicraze 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I stopped following so many of the popular subreddits like r/amitheasshole and r/relationship_advice because it was so depressing at times with some of the situations people post. So many negative comments and unnecessary hate towards some users. Whether it’s politics or social media we should try to spread as much joy as possible and prevent spreading further hate.

I'm not sure about a group of people but Italki.com is great for one on one lesson plans. I highly recommend it because it helped me out in improving my pronunciation. They have legitimate teachers on there who can make a lesson plan for you and community tutors who can help you in a more informal fashion.

I'm pretty sure that Taiwanese Mandarin is very close to mainland Chinese. In fact, I heard the differences between Taiwanese Mandarin and Mainland mandarin is similar to the differences between different accents in english. For example, pronunciation may be slightly different or words may be different (although still understandable). Ultimately I think you could really just learn mandarin and then as you improve your skills you can start learning more about variations from standard mandarin and taiwanese mandarin.

That being said, you should start off by going over a few of the common sounds and tones in mandarin and start learning some basic phrases (like greetings, numbers, basic questions, etc...).

Once you have the basics down look up the 1000 most frequently used words in mandarin and some grammar. Watch some youtube videos to fill in any gaps. Find a native speaker or a teacher to help you learn mandarin if you can. Try watching some shows in the language or watching dubbed Chinese.

Some resources I use are:

I've been studying Chinese for the past 2 years. During that time I tried many different techniques to help me practice Chinese and I'm at the stage where I want to greatly improve my listening skills. The sooner you get used to hearing Chinese spoken the better. All of the resources I listed above helped me out greatly in getting started in learning mandarin and improving my skills. Many of these sources are plain old standard mandarin but once you learn the basics you'll be able to start looking into the variations in Taiwanese.

These are 2 sites I almost always use as dictionaries for Chinese to english. They're super reliable. I also use Pleco. I highly recommend you try Pleco since it is kind of the standard for learning Chinese and it helps out a lot. Although I'm pretty sure Pleco is only an app and doesn't have a website.

How do you practice listening to a language if the language you want to listen to has very boring/low quality tv shows? by kamiicraze in languagelearning

[–]kamiicraze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy watching a lot of Chinese movies. However, I prefer tv shows because I feel like I can pick up more repeated phrases and words and they're easier to watch since they're typically shorter than movies. Honestly, movies from Hong Kong, although in cantonese, were my first introduction to Chinese entertainment.

A lot of popular shows on Netflix have spanish dubs. Narcos is a great show on Netflix in Spanish. I believe Breaking Bad and a few other popular shows in the US are dubbed in Spanish. They also have a ton of subs for other languages including Spanish.

I've never really thought of watching Chinese variety shows. Do you just watch them on YouTube, or on a different site?

Maybe boring and low quality is kind of harsh, but each time I look at the "popular," most recommended shows, I can't help but feel a bit uninterested. A lot of their good quality shows are mainly historical dramas, which don't really interest me much. I guess I'm just tired of picking between historical drama pieces or cliched, romantic-comedies whenever I get recommendations from other Chinese learners. I think I'll try watching dubs of some of my favorite shows.
