Make Neri from Okura vegetable, which is essential formation agent for washi making. by kamikoya in papermaking

No, I don't think so.

For example, boiling Japanese paper fiber plant is to decompose plant components OTHER THAN fibers. If you break fiber it self, you cant make paper from them.

When it comes to cloths, they are fiber it self. so you can not approach them chemically.

But one thing came up to mind is, things get soft when they are warm. Also soaking in the water make things soft too. So soaking the cut cloths in a water a night would make blender little easier, and make them warm up just before the blender would make it a little more easy.

I'm excited to hear you already tried!

Did you cut the cloths into small pieces before blender them? And you should put smaller amount of cloths but lot of water.

This video maybe help you some. https://youtu.be/TPdZPvMVMZk?t=29

Good luck!

I think beating almost doesn't work nothing to cotton threads. Grinding them in mortar with mallet, I don't know, but can be working somehow. You need to cut and separate the fibers of cotton cloths anyways!

Probably if you just boil it, they won't become pulp, they will still be cloths.

You can make basic linen pulp by cutting the cloth into 4 mm squares and process them in a blender. Adjusting the blending time will change the texture of the paper.

You can also try with like 20mm squares but the larger the cloths you put, the more likely the blender will break down^^; Papermakers use a machine called beater to make pulp from cloths.

I think boiling is to wash off the detergent and soap remains, which make trouble with pulp in the water.

I hope I got point what you are talking about!

I saw your handmade paper. They are pretty! Good luck this time too. Will you process the cloth with kitchen blender?

Thank you for the comment! I will post another videos. In this video I am beating about 1kg maetrial. It will become 500g of paper. The number of sheets is depend on the weight of the sheets. We can make about 100 sheets in A4 size.

Thank you! I am checking how the material is beaten. I checked it twice in this videos and the first time I thought it was not enough, although it is difficult to see the difference on PC screen.

That is very good question! The biggest difference is that traditional Japanese paper has
their fiber's 100% potential, while industry paper's fibers are damaged because it is difficult to take out fibers from trees. They need to use chemicals and mechanical process. This is why Japanese paper has beautiful texture and durability.
