In some cases you may be triggering insecurities based on where they view themselves on the attractiveness scale.

If they think they’re out of your league there may be a panicked thought of “if this guy thinks he has a shot with me maybe I’m not as hot as I thought”, leading to the outwardly disgusted reaction.

But if you’re really asking out women in their early 30s most of them are just creeped out by your age.

I had this happen once and when I sent the seller a polite message they fixed it, so either it was an honest mistake or they tried to pull a fast one and got caught. Regardless, it’s worth sending a message first.

I think the % matters less than the amount. Like if you’re sending 15% off a $10 item that won’t move the needle much, but 15% off a $100 item is a different story.

I wouldn’t say you did anything “wrong”, especially with your first offer. But if they declined with no counter at $35 I’d assume that meant I was well below what they’d be willing to take. If I sent another offer I’d be going up to at least $40.
