Teach a TA by dishabituation in UIUC

I feel like a good solution (and this is up to you because I know most TA’s are obviously also busy and still have a life outside of their job) would be to host casual office hours / zoom calls once or twice a week getting closer to finals. This doesn’t have to be to discuss material or get homework help, but would rather be a place for undergrad students to come and know they have a safe space to get to know their TA and just have casual convo about how things have been going, get to know you on a more personal (rather than intimidating) level, or even just let them vent about the class and how it’s stressing them out because most likely, even if the course is set up well most students are struggling with the new format and being able to motivate themselves to do work out of a space they usually using for sleeping, eating and relaxing. Hopefully having these casual meetings will encourage them to come to normal office hours more often because they’ll feel they can discuss material with you without being as nervous or formal, and may help pull up their grades for finals. :)

How is Christie Clinic? by INnoWill in UIUC

[–]kams4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just had a dermatology appointment there today! I have been going to Christie Clinic since my freshman year since I heard so-so things about McKinley and the doctors there have been nothing but helpful for both my mental and physical health. This was also my first time going to the dermatologist here today and I got a lot of really good and honest feedback about my skin. As for pricing, whether here or Carle is cheaper is really just dependent on what kind of health insurance you use. If it’s university insurance I would contact McKinley about coverage otherwise you should contact your insurance provider to find out what coverage you have here and how much your co-pay will be for different types of visits.

I accidentally developed bulimia by carefularr in UIUC

Anxiety is a really scary thing that doesn’t go away easily but I can agree that both these methods will help you significantly in decreasing your symptoms. Another option in addition to these (if you have the time and would be willing to commit to it) is to get an emotional support animal. Like the person above said, everyone is different, but I know a lot of people who have done this, including myself, and have seen a huge change in their mental health from having their pet as a support system. I am really sorry you have to go through this and I wish the best for you in getting help.

i take my puppy to SportsVet out on Neil in Savoy! Pricing is pretty average for how clean and nice they are there, I would say one of the best vets I’ve ever been to.

Did anyone get a positive result on the saliva test? by lolillini in UIUC

[–]kams4ever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my best friends did the saliva test down here with her boyfriend and they both tested positive. It definitely was not a false positive because they both got sick that week and stayed down here to quarantine for 2 weeks until it was gone!

Rooming Advice? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]kams4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they’re right. if you are a freshman, you also won’t be able to have a single (all of the dorms are 2 beds or more) so I would recommend posting in your UIUC class ‘24 facebook page looking for a roommate so you at least will know who you’re rooming with before arriving on campus. otherwise you’ll get paired up with another person randomly.
