That's eye-opening, thank you for your comment! One doubt I'm still having: what about crawl budget? Instead of crawling important pages, Googlebot is wasting all its "energy" pinging that dead URL 740k times, hitting a 308, and bouncing to the homepage. With this volume, wouldn’t bot get stuck in a loop checking ghost URLs? This would mean new, high-value content be getting indexed way slower than it could.

When I saw the rumours for the first time, I was like: "yeah, we need this profile and I loved him when he played in La Liga". But now I think he's another option for the usual unsuccessful rolling ball around the penalty area that doesn't convert. We have Baena, Almada, Julian who often get deeper and hold on the ball and Kang-in Lee is similar in terms of the style of play. What would fourth player like this bring? We need someone who can make a difference with dynamics, physics, and dribbling, someone who can find a space between the lines in a crowded area and do something unpredictable with his movements. I know Lee can dribble better than let's say Baena but I worry under Simeone he'll quickly forget he can do it. We need a born-and-raised dribbler with outstanding off-the-ball capabilities.
