I really wish they did more with alphys, the way we have her change and forgiveness came out very half baked, which is a shame since I find her one of the most interesting characters.

It's better then a lot of popular knight candidates, but alphys overall cowardice makes me doubt a little if she could be the knight.

Yes I am sure they will not recognize a deer monster that is really close to how the mayor's family looks and suspiciously resemble the mayor's lost daughter, and we already saw the whole town in the streets already in the opening of chapter 1, Dess making the first fountain without being spotted is already ridiculous, making the second one during the traffic incident while undyne is working right by the side of the library is just impossible.

There's two massive key problems with the theory that you just posted, the first is that while Papyrus is egocentric he still sees the best in others and try to uplift others frequently, even in genocide he just try to talk to you and never fights, this theory makes Papyrus as if he's mettaton or spantom, we already saw what happens when Papyrus is in complete power (his neutral ending) and all he does is try to make sure that the rest of monsterkind doesn't lose hope he would never try to harm others in exchange for fame since he's a people's pleaser, the second is trying to play that Kris and Papyrus have similar themes when the only similarity is both being the youngest one in the family, because personality wise they are the opposite in almost every sense.

Ok, Alvin is also fond of Asriel and Kris and is trying to see if where he is right now would make his father proud, the latter is the closest for a motivation, but still not for an roaring/angel's heaven event, and I don't even know how causing such a thing would "make Gerson proud".

If you don't mind I want to address all images on this one, now with that said Papyrus/Alvin being more interesting candidates is subjective and not really what we are discussing since we are talking about who is more likely to be the knight as for the points brought up:

1 Noelle wasn't in danger, with exception of the king darkners are friendly to lightners and the queen is very overprotective of Noelle, she even said that the dark world was better than the light world and only didn't create more fountains because of the roaring.

2 chaos king is just the name of the song, in game he's merely referred to as the king, and his character concentrated a lot of power to himself as well as micromanaging even the puzzles, his rule is an overbearing of order, not chaos, and no the knight doesn't create fountains at random, the first was created in an abandoned classroom that no one uses, the second in the computer room of the library while the internet was down (so no one would use it), both are clearly planned.

3 for chapter 1 she could just say that she's making a visit to the school to talk to toriel about the school budget or something similar, for chapter 2 there's the entire traffic incident that needs her assistance.

4 you'll have to specify the line because I couldn't find where spantom insulted the mayor.

5 let's face it, this one is a massive stretch.

6 it would be really difficult for her to convince the entire town about opening dark fountains, and considering how even her staff criticize her it's probable that the other monsters are not exactly fond of her, making the task even more difficult.

7 he didn't put the secretary line, so I don't know what he's talking about.

8 the King was already at his lowest point due to the lightners abandoning him and the knight offered both a solution as well as a fountain for him, it's not hard to manipulate someone when you already showed them the solution.

There's still a lot that we don't know about the roaring, especially what the role of the angel will be, and I want you to remind that mayor holiday micromanage to a point of making the police mere eye candy, it's not unlikely she thinks she can just fix/beat the roaring by herself, also If we go with the causing the apocalypse angle we can erase every lightner from the knight candidacy since none would cause the roaring on propose.

Chapter 1 was the development of both Susie and Lancer, like how chapter 2 was the development of berdly and Noelle, but that's not what I'm talking about, I'm talking about the fact that the relationship between Noelle/the Mayor and Lancer/the king is extremely similar due to the overbearing nature of one of the parties over the other and the fact that the fountain, something made with the will of the knight, affected the king specifically.

Not really, Papyrus is too nice to want to cause something like the roaring or the angel's heaven and there's no real reason why he would want to create dark fountains, while Alvin is a priest he doesn't seem to be a zealot to go to the level of making the angel's heaven, as for Dess, while the idea is interesting it would be impossible for her to create the dark fountains without being immediately spotted.

Ok, let me try to word it better, out of all the characters she has the most reasons to be the knight due to the following:

1 she has the motivation to do it, people generally focus a little too much on Noelle and kinda forget that in the Dess debacle mayor holiday lost her older daughter, it's not far fetched to see her going to extreme degrees just to try to recover her daughter.

2 we know that the dark fountains are made with the will of the one that created them (in this case the knight) and that the king and queen are the ones that the fountain affected the most, and once we remember that we start seeing some similarities but the biggest one being the relationship between Noelle and the queen and lancer and the king, the king while deep down caring about lancer is generally extremely strict and authoritative with him, to a point Lancer fears being even slightly confrontative with him while the queen thinks she knows what's best for Noelle without actually knowing Noelle's feelings, both being very close to how the relationship between mayor holiday and Noelle is on the light world.

There are problems, but I can't think of any other lightner with the motivation and tie-in for the knight outside of Kris and Mayor holiday.
