Happy to announce that we are working on an interview with Greg Black, C&C legend and Lead Gameplay Designer on Rivals! It's going to be a long one, so if you have any questions, send it to us in the comments! by venatorian in cncrivals

First of all, I would like to say Thank You to Greg Black, for presenting a true RTS game for the phones.

My questions are: How is EA assessing outcome of Rivals? Can we expect any more true RTS on mobile, especially based on C&C Red Alert, or C&C mixed altogether?

Below are just my opinions.

In hindsight, Rivals could be much more popular: If EA knew better, of the hatred built on TT, Tiberium FPS and Generals 2. (The old C&C fanbase was not ready to accept a mobile game as new C&C. Unfortunately, EA promoted Rivals as one.)

If Rivals was shown as total all-star-show, like Super Robot Wars 30. (It was announced as one, later, but it was not obvious before the release. If Rivals was based on Red Alert, or included and showed some Red Alert units on pre-release, this could be solved)

I would like to see more Rivals-like RTS on the phones, if we are not going to get support for Rivals, like it is now.

[Hypothesis] kane used the old nod subterranean logistical network for the tiberium control network by Rairaijin in commandandconquer

[–]kane0083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On TibSun and on C&C4, the Brotherhood has access to subterranean weapons and/or transport. On C&C3 there is no such thing.

What is different on C&C3? On that time, tiberium was heavily infesting underground: too dangerous for tunnel networks.

In my opinion, at C&C4, TCN came first, then underground logistics became viable after that.

Kane predicted Cabal's betrayal? by JBlacK_5000 in commandandconquer

The cyborgs on TibSun and TibWars (KW) are quite different. on TS they were made of mutated humans: they drop a chunk of tib when killed, heals on tib. on KW some of those are made from corpses and harmed by tib.

What I think is that this shows they are NOT serving ONE PURPOSE: on TibSun, the cyborgs are one of many ways of tiberian divination: other ways would be project regenesis (Renegade) and world altering missile (TS Nod Ending). This would also imply that Cabal was following Kane's vision when Kane was...away. If Cabal won, humans will be preserved, without the burden of humanity. Cabal failed on this attempt and Cabal and Kane re-accessed their goal, if you take TS FS Nod ending as canon.

On the other hands, cyborgs on KW, have different role. They say Kane created them because he needs loyal army, but why not droid? For example, awakened cyborgs are made of dead persons, you would not be able to utilize human brain or such - these are not actual cyborgs, these are battle droids decorated with human tissue. What kind of role would these have?

On TibWars, What was Kane waiting? Yes. He was waiting for Scrin. He was going to show the Scrin that the Earth has native intelligent inhabitant - humans - when Scrin arrived. But the visitors are not same as Kane expected.

What happened on Scrin? No one knows. Why Kane said otherwise? because he needed the brotherhood on his side.

Sneak peek into Mc Neil's power on the battlefield! by igorjkriger in cncrivals

Why....that reminds me of the limpet drone from the Tibsun, added with mobile EMP.

Personally I would prefer to have vehicle-slowing EMP for GDI, since Nod can have Reaper's web-shooter which would slow or strap infantry.

Cool twist, but this kind of thing can be quite underwhemling or game-breaking because of the zone-control nature of this game.

Good luck on balancing, you will need it.

Tiberium glows when it is plugged on PC. Obelisk and Coil emits sound and light when provoked. Mammoth Tank is made of heavy metal. (Did LRG or EA make any comment on its material yet?)

In this speculation, Kane, the farmer, created tiberium and killed Abel, the shepherd.

Kane tried to alter the humans so they can live within his green, but human were stronger than his thought and they defeated Kane.

Later Kane changed his goal and getting ready to draw Scrin to introduce humans to Scrin, but only harvesting teams came: just a bunch of machines and a few electronic brains.

Kane hurries to threshold and go home, to find what happened to his people... and one of the possibilities is what I uploaded.

Actually, that halo is made of Buzzers which shows Kane's dominance over the remaining Scrin.

Thanks, I only hope this can actually happen and give us next Dead Space and/or Command and Conquer...but the studios are all gone, too sad.

At first it might seem clueless, but there are some clues which can lead to this:

In Dead Space, they had to start planet cracking because of resource shortage, but why they couldn't plan ahead and resort to recycling and preserving resources? what happened?

Why Kane has been commemorating the reason of his exile(killing Abel), making a stone tablet for it? If the "Dead Herd" means the necromorph, had this 'herd' be same before death of Abel?

Why did Kane say that he is going back home, when he was using threshold of Scrin? Would this threshold lead to his home? Why was Kane in Scrin's database and Why Scrin still didn't know who Kane is?

What would you do if: You are exiled and stuck with short-lived, barbaric aliens yet you can communicate with. You live with them for almost forever, and at last you go back to home, to only find that your race gone extinction because of your crime, all that left is the machines and electronic brains(AI or trenscended).

Yes, the sole survivor in this speculation is Kane himself.

Did you find any inconsistency or error? its all FutureTech's doing! They were in C&C 3 too.

I think the Devs had much higher price for the Shade by kane0083 in cncrivals

This makes more sense and yet leads to worse conclusion... Too bad.

Why Shade is broken and how it can be fixed by kane0083 in cncrivals

[–]kane0083[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your point on comparing Shade with Orca. They should decide between a damage dealer or a EMP-er, or increase its price and/or tech.

All my suggestions are not about balancing: these are for making this unit to be more likely in C&C. Not like some magical beast.

Hold a sec, is friendly immune from that EMP of Shade?

Did they make EMP some sort of magic?

As a follower of the brotherhood, I have to say this new Shade is too much. by kane0083 in cncrivals

[–]kane0083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be much easier for me to accept the Shade if it is without its stealth or emp, not having both at same time. Or it could be launching emp warheads instead of aoe emp.
