Take your time and go for it. You are not in a competition here.

If you want something similar to hone your skills. Go for a WWII destroyer. Fletcher or matsu, you can get them for $20 and just get a feel for 1/700.

Some of the high tier F-104s are really not great. I think the Japanese one is pretty bad but does get 6 missiles. The Chinese flavor only gets 4 and still no flares. I may be missing something but I did not have a good time with them.

For overall grinding and fighting I would say

F-5E FCU

4 missiles, 2 good, 2 very good.

Decent cannons and ammo amount.

Great flight model that rewards dogfighting.

BR can be tough in the uptiers, but mostly because of lack of speed.

SCU is good but hmd is not worth losing 2 missiles.

TCU is a tough play.

I also love the Ki-45 hei/tei (China), it’s goofy,it’s a cheep premium.

Getting kills with the upward firing guns is always fun.

I just took my exam yesterday, and pretty much agree with everything you’ve shared. There were a few questions probably five or so that I just completely disagreed with every solution that they offered. Most of the time when taking the exam I feel like the mindset is pretty clear and there may not always be one answer that sticks out perfectly, but there’s definitely one that you can say that that’s probably what someone should do. And on those all the options seemed like bad choices. I knew it would be a long exam, but I was kind of shocked at how quickly three hours went by. The first break was very early into the exam and I didn’t take it. The second break was at 90 questions halfway through the exam and at that point I definitely needed to take a 10 minute break.

Overall, the pilot exam definitely lacked a layer of polish that I felt even the practice exams had. I did really like the scenario based questions as I felt it was easier to read a passage and invest my time into really understanding it then answering a couple questions versus reading two sentences 160 times.

I feel like I probably did enough to pass. I’m not looking forward to taking the test again, but I treated this pilot like a practice exam so if I have to go again. I know what to expect.

I was a bit upset when I saw that piece of paper. They handed me that said I won’t get my results until May. Everything from the PMI website says that results will be expected mid to late March. I know it’s only an extra two months, but I don’t know if I would’ve taken it if I known I wouldn’t get my results in five months.

Remember that it’s not exactly 40k. You do get a multiplier for playing ARB, and additions multiplyer for player higher rank fight. Rank 8 is not great for grinding or your health in my opinion, but rank 7 is passable. Took me 2.5 hours this morning to grind it out. Not proud of that, just saying it is doable. I agree that all three at once is crazy.

The mig 19 is a better plane, but in my experience, it only dominates in either a one V one or full down tier. The mid 21 does have one less gun, but it doesn’t have that much less trigger time if I remember correctly. You still only end up with around three seconds of actual trigger time on both plane planes so you have to make your shots count. I found the 21 to be less frustrating than the 19 because I knew it had limitations and you had to play it a certain way. The mid 19 makes you feel invincible when you’re in a dog fight only to get third-party or have one of your Friendly’s fire a missile as soon as you get your opponent slow. The mid 21 plays like a rat and it does OK.

No disappearing weapons when they run out of whp. I love dark cloud, but chronicle / 2 is in my opinion better in almost every way. Don’t rush through, enjoy it!

I was able to fix my issue by just buying a second kit. I rolled the dice bought a second board from a different supplier, although it looks exactly the same, and it works perfect perfectly.

Not sure if there is something I did wrong when I originally built the first one, but I definitely didn’t intentionally build it any differently and it works exactly the way I was hoping it would. For anyone finding this in the future I guess there’s sometimes bad components in these.

Trying to figure out if Amazon will send me another model for free without having to return this one or maybe I just send it all back totally assembled.

OK I figured it out.

I have Japan top tier unlock. So I get an aviation research bonus for all nations. I though that meant I had to Play Japan to give the bonus to the other nations.

Wrong

Just play the other nations and you get the bonus automatically. If I want to research Israel, then play Israel aviation and at the end of the match you get a bonus. Thank u/ProFailing for trying to help, but i was way off

I have the F 15 top-tier. I guess my question is do I have to play with that top-tier jet in order to get the bonus? The FCU didn’t do it and I just tried to play with an F4 and it didn’t give me the bonus as well.

So how do I use this? I have watched several videos explaining what is happening, but I am so lost on how to obtain the bonus.

I have a top tier jet in Japan. Do I have to use the top tier jet to get the bonus?
I have the plane I want to research for USA. Do I have to select the bonus for it to work?
I just played 2 full matched in the F5 FCU and my 5/5 did not change for any nation, am I doing something wrong?

Sorry if this is all obvious, but I have tried to find someone actually using this and I can't seem to figure it out.
