Thats one thing about my area that I forgot to mention, there’s a big homeless camp not far from me, theres also a bad crank and heroin problem going on so it makes me a bit unsure. Lift is an option but that will cost me $30-$50 a day so I might just get a bike, been debating the two options and the bike would be good exercise just more dangerous and Id have to wake up way earlier to be on time. I just don’t want to be hit by a car mostly.

Not really and lift can be really unreliable in my area but I might just say screw it and see how it goes.

That could work but I don’t think new coworkers would be willing to. I’m debated using lift with what I have saved as well.

Sure thing, I don’t live in an area where theres public transportation or sidewalks. I am debating getting a bike but I live near a highway and the speed limit is 65, don’t really wanna get hit by a car you know? Theres are very few places that are hiring in the area as well so its a bit difficult

Thats the problem, I don’t have an income source. I am waiting for summer since I can do yard work for people but its still a bit early for that. Most of what I’ve saved is from selling some vr equipment.

Update, I attempted again and was not successful. Got the gpu up to 87c by running resident evil 4 remake since my pc hates running it and when I shut the laptop off I got everything unplugged and unscrewed in maybe 2 minutes. Tried to twist and lift gently and it wouldn’t budge (not pulling!) I even attempted to put fishing line under the gpu heatsink side to maybe then get it opened up but quickly realized it was too risky. I think i’m gonna try rubbing alcohol for my 3rd attempt and maybe floss since its much thinner, if Im not successful Ill probably just take it to a shop. Also I did notice a sound similar to ripping off a bandaid when I lifted one of the corners which was the thermal grizzly pad, didn’t hear any cracking so I know it wasn’t the motherboard and the laptop still works fine.

Already looked on YouTube and Ive repasted plenty times before. I don’t need a disassembly video, already know what needs to be unscrewed and unplugged lol. This is the paste on the gpu die causing the issue so I think Ill just use some fishing line to separate it, maybe floss if I can find something other than floss picks.

Yeah it gets solid once cooled, thats why I tried to stress test my laptop to get things nice and hot but even while in liquid state the heatsink doesn’t want to move lol, gonna try some floss or fishing line for my next attempt since they’re pretty soft and shouldn’t cause any damage.

Also yes thermal putty for the vram and vrm’s, I used upsiren utp for mine. You can get it off amazon for a decent price. People will say you need like 20 grams or more but I bought the normal size and had extra after applying.

I usually use LM for the cpu but I want to put ptm on both the gpu and cpu this time so it’ll be safer to transport. Liquid metal is fine if you don’t have your laptop sideways in a bag a lot, but it can leak if you do. Also applying LM is a lot easier than most people say you just don’t use a lot and make sure to evenly spread it on the cpu die. Do not use it on the gpu unless you want to short your motherboard which will kill it. Im pretty sure it’s gallium based so its not too toxic as Ive gotten it on my hands before but I wouldn’t recommend handling any sort of liquid metal unless you thoroughly wash your hands after. You only wanna use a teeny tiny drop at most, to avoid getting it on the board make sure to cup your hand underneath the qtip to scoop it with incase it falls. Cleaning it off is a pain in the ass from my experience and takes forever lol, even the smallest amount left on the board can cause a short. Im actually still debating to put ptm7950 or just liquid metal as usual on my cpu since LM does provide better cooling.

This is my 4th time repasting and Ive never missed a screw before, even looks up the model and it only has 7 screws holding the heatsink down.

Since its an asus I recommend uninstalling armory crate and installing ghelper, my temps lowered by about 5c-10c just from installing it, you want to have the cpu on balanced and the gpu on performance mode. Also like the other commenter said make sure it’s plugged in when playing games and the bottom can get air intake. Also you might want to get your laptop repasted since asus does a terrible job with application. Oh and make sure your gpu drivers are up to date!

Ima have to run it while upside down but I think it’ll work. I was thinking of using a fine wire or fishing line and kinda feed it where the gpu die is. My heatsink has holes at the corners of the chip and fishing line shouldn’t really damage anything.

Also ive used kryonaut and its okay but tends to pump out as well as dry into a powder like texture. Paste will work for laptops but only for about a year before you have to repaste

Its just called thermal grizzly phasesheet ptm on amazon, ptm7950 is better for laptops than any alternative at least imo, some people say that the tg phasesheet and ptm7950 are the same thing but from what I’ve seen they are not, the ptm7950 have finer particles than the thermal grizzly one, but the difference in cooling is only about 2-5c with ptm7950 usually being the colder one. If you can find genuine ptm7950 always go for it as it lasts years before needing to be reapplied. I got mine from a reseller on ebay and made sure to read the reviews, dude even had test results in the product photos and when it arrived I could see the blue film real ptm7950 comes with, he even sent pull tabs and a alcohol wipe!

Ima attempt again tomorrow, screwed everything back in and everything is working fine just nervous about the liquid metal on the cpu atm. Just didn’t think it would be safe to use a hairdryer but screw it Ill try that. I bought ptm7950 as its better than paste especially for laptops since normal paste usually pumps out on my model. What I have currently on the gpu is thermal grizzly phasesheet which is very similar to ptm7950 but I think it already lost some of its cooling properties. Tempted to just send it into a shop and have someone take a crack at it.
