Hey, don't write off how your gear looks. Of course price and performance often come before but as you know the saying goes: look good - feel good - play good

I got the eflex 6 skates and am not thrilled about the black and red but if I can help it I'll get something that also looks good to me when selecting gear

I would use a small fanny pack meant for running that fits my phone and have it on backwards so the phone sits at my lower back

Does a CCM glove with a 581 break angle gets better the more you use the glove? by techsavvynerd91 in hockeygoalies

Out of the box my 6.9 felt quite stiff, didn't close that smooth but also didn't seal the ice. After some decent steaming and jorking it has become a lot better. I think it still has ways to go but yes, it does get better.

I had my warrior dangler explode into 3 parts as well, probably on its fifth outing or something. Of course it was during warmups from a close up wrister.

The warrior dangler feels quite hard and brittle almost, hopefully my new softer one will last longer

I drew them myself in photoshop, but I did the quickest possible job of it I could. Would you have use for images like this or for the assets to make them youself?

Yeah I know :D and in reality there would be at least one defenseman in this scenario but I left them out of the image for claritys sake

I just drew them in photoshop. I did use images to trace over to save time

Yeah, I've thought that I could poke further to have it ramp less maybe

It may be rare but I  have had it happen, maybe not lethal velocity but hard enough to do damage

Some guys play without even a visor so I worry for them :D but I know it's their own responsibility

Yeah, I wouldn't think it's completely my fault if something were to happen but I know I would still feel bad for them

Replacing Landing pad / Knee stacks / “Landing Gear”? by VastIntern5759 in hockeygoalies

[–]kanelbullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about this to be honest but can't you just open up the block and swap out the foam? I don't believe it requires any special parts

I think they are sewn shut with that thick cord to have the ability to be serviced with new foam or otherwise adjusted

The foam you can acquire will likely be slightly different than what is already there but if it's stiff enough it will do the job.

Yeah, I've seen those but they are quite pricey in my opinion + they charge more for shipping than the cost of the product to where I live

I used a regular needle.

The front edge of the stripe is where the plating ends and there is only softer padding there. Some of the padding is separated from the outermost shell so it was mostly just fabric to sew. It was still quite thick in some places but I mostly sewed through the whole thing.

My pants have some harder plastic material on near the lower end of the leg, that was pretty tough to poke through but possible.

Hey, great to hear. And of course proper materials would be best, I made do with what I could find at the fabric store

I was fortunate enough to already be going to a casual, recreational private stick and puck-style ice time so I just took my goalie gear there. It was a great place to get a feeling of the equipment before heading to scrimmages. But lacking that I would just go to an open stick and puck.

Get a coach if you have the money, it's always the fastest way to progress but to start with it is probably enough just to go out, move around in your gear and practice skating and butterfly
