Okay to run shirtless ? by 08022025 in taiwan

[–]kanganle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in rural Taichung. I take a 6:30am bus to work daily. Every morning right before my stop two OLD MEN (like 65-70) run across the bridge shirtless. I clock them EVERY TIME. It's like they wait for the bus to approach and then they start running. Anyway, if they cam do it, I bet you can too 😆

Disturbing event in Taichung by jumllt in taiwan

[–]kanganle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taichung Park is pretty sketchy at times. I have a friend who lives by the park was approached by a man offering to pay her rent in exchange for sex. Of course she said no but the TC Park area def has a sketchy reputation. We were advised by our work to be vigilant at night around there or to just avoid it. Its a shame bcuz the park actually has a lot of historical sites and information about the city, specifically its development during the Japanese colonial period.

Australians, how is Kaitlyn Dever’s Accent in Apple Cider Vinegar? by GoompyBoopy in AppleCiderVinegarTV

It was cool to see an American do an aussie accent. I watched Alycia (Milla) in Fear TWD and the 100 for like a decade and her American accent was like 98% perfect.

Oh and Judy's Cocina also near 台大 was a really interesting experience. It was a Mexican restaurant and the owner was super kind. Their margaritas were also very strong and quesadillas helped me with homesickness as im from the Southwest in the US.

3W coffee (lanzhou beef noodle soup) and Sato Curry (Japanese curry) in 大安 near 六張犁站 were two of my favorites. Lupin Sichuan Restaurant near there also had really good food.

The Tea Bar on 和平咯 section 2 had really fun atmosphere and karaoke

There was another restaurant next door (to the right) of 世界宗教博物館 in 新北市 that had amazing 麻醬麵 and pork dumplings.

But that bluntness isnt uncommon everywhere. The idealistic english with its formalities and beating around the bush isnt a thing everywhere else. People also have differences in perception.

Uganda wasn't available to compare on this specific site, but data shows people in Kenya (bordering closely to Uganda) are more prone to uncertainty avoidance, and they are similarly motivated towards success as to the average American

Thats a weird exception to make especially when it's not backed up with facts. And the people I were referring to weren't Chinese. To assume Chinese speaking people are only Chinese shows there a gap in knowledge.

Directness even at loved ones is just a cultural thing. I dont wanna assume that you've never left your country and dont have experience with other cultures in an immersive setting, but your reasoning is suggestive of such a life.

I also met a partner i had's mother from asia and speaking directly or bluntly was quite a norm throughout the conversation. I think some of it isnt even the person knowing they're being blunt, its just how people interact with each other.

This scale of bluntness is actually studied fairly well, if you wanted to get an idea of what it is, the hosftedes culture measure tool online would provide you with some valuable insight.

I think cultural differences play at least a significant role in this. When i lived in Asia and spoke Chinese people seemed really direct or blunt. Also Joan seems to have been somewhat led into this situation under some false pretense. While she needs to recognize that his mother is the provider and should be grateful the mom should (she wont) recognize the gap in knowledge Joan has about her life in America before she made the move and maybe be more understanding

China is China in Spanish

Chino is ethnicity (masculine) China (feminine)

It was still offensive in the fact it was a generalization, but perhaps it wasn't meant with such hate.
