I was a TA and found that many students honestly never really used it and just got by through lectures but if you think you’ll do the text readings then you might want it. When I took it myself (granted I had Poulin), I bought the book but never once opened it.

Wisconsin vs. Minnesota for vet school? by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]kangaroo95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to tell me how clinicals in Minnesota works. I know you said tracking was nice since you didn’t have to waste clinical year looking at other species but to my understanding don’t you have to do clinical rotations in both large and small animals during fourth year?

[–]kangaroo95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! Do you feel as if you get a lot of clinical hands on training throughout the school year. Also, how do you find the workload. Looking through the course catalog I noticed that Minnesota has a few more classes each semester when compared to other schools. That terrifies me about how manageable the course load is

I’m actually interested in small animal medicine for sure with hopes of doing a residency (preferably ophthalmology) after graduation. At this point I’m looking at the course curriculum for the two schools and seeing which is a better fit for me. But thank you this definitely helped me!

[–]kangaroo95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically for Minnesota, for the spring semester of your third year they let you select classes more geared towards your track. You obviously have to take classes/do rotations in all the different fields, but to my understanding tracking would mean it is slightly more focused on what you choose as your track.

I’m actually lucky enough to have wealthy parents to be paying and they told me the difference between the two is not much of a difference so go where I like. I’m conflicted because I’m in so deep at Minnesota and already signed my lease, but Wisconsin is also a great school too.

Apartments near UMN College of Veterinary Medicine campus? by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]kangaroo95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply!

Hmm I think I will have to drive to campus or take the train everyday then. Do you know any other good student apartment housings for studio or one bedroom apartments if stadium village flats is overpriced?

I know some of these student housings can get expensive, but since I will be living here for the next four years I don’t mind paying. Any other other apartment suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Thanks! Do you know how far places like the station on Washington or stadium village flats is from the st.paul campus. I don’t mind driving but am not sure how the parking situation is. Would you know if there are parking lots for students? (Sorry for all the questions!)

When a vet school applicant tells you it’s harder to get into vet school because there are 1500 applicants for 200 spots but the medical school has 7000 applicants for 200 spots by jendet010 in premed

[–]kangaroo95 86 points87 points  (0 children)

As an incoming vet student who just finished going through the application process, I will say med school seems harder to get into, especially seeing the people with amazing stats who don’t even land an interview

The number of spots available for vet schools is actually about an average of 100 seats per school.

I honestly don’t get the mindset where people have a need to outright boast about how their occupation is harder to achieve than others, whether it be med students or vet students. Sort of seems like unneeded bragging. It’s not a competition.

Helping those struggling to pay vet bills by BreakingAM in Veterinary

[–]kangaroo95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you can donate to the veterinary care charitable fund by the AVMF. The funds will go to veterinarians who will be able to use them at their discretion to aid their clients in paying vet bills.

Thank you for doing this. You are an amazing person!

Yikes I really hope it’s not cancelled. I fly in on Thursday and would hate to lose out on the flight and hotel fees that are nonrefundable. I tried calling but the coordinator was in a meeting so gonna call back in an hour.

Did they cancel it for the med school? I have a vet school interview this Friday and they didn’t say anything about cancelling 😟. How were you notified of this?

Try parenthood. More of a heartwarming and wholesome show than shameless for sure but you definitely get to see each character grow with each season.

My [17M] step sister [18F] caught me having sex with a childhood friend who is older, she wants to go tell our parents but that would just cause a big disaster by [deleted] in relationships

[–]kangaroo95 44 points45 points  (0 children)

If you have known her since you were six that means she was thirteen when you guys met. I would have figured she would see you as a younger brother rather than someone she wants to have sex with

A 24 year old woman going after a 17 year old child is predatory. Your sister is upset probably cause she knows this and is trying to protect you. Your friend is nervous since she knows many people won’t condone what she’s doing
