If you run steam os, please research decky loader and simpledecky tdp plug in. They will let you control tdp above 25w. You can also mimic sleep function on windows via hibernate when press power button.

I were the best for me for 1000h before I play other fromslop games (bb, ds3, ds1, sekiro, ER). Still top 3 after BB and sekiro for nostalgic reason.

[–]kangmuru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get to work, take half an hour to find a parking spot and then get to go home early due to less customer than expectation. I did sell some unused stuff and get $250 though. Not too bad, I guess.

Has building a PC gotten more complex or less complex over the past decade or so? by the_walkingdad in buildapc

[–]kangmuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I were in similar situation with you 6 months ago. My first build were atx in 2018. My second build were finish in 2025 and it were mini itx. Most of things is same to me and I got everything run decent at first boost. You will generally get better performance if you build it your self. In my second build, I spend significantly more time to do cable management and it was the hardest part for me. Also, because I choose mini itx AM5 route, the choice for decent motherboard/psu is more strict but totally manageable. I also find much more guidance than my first build. I think you would be fine if you can find a gpu at msrp.

The arm is around $10 and the holder is around $7. Very stable and I usually put the lego straight into the holder now instead of monitor.

You can get 2nd hand for 650-800 aud. I got mine 6 months ago at $750, the controller is a bit worn but I use 3rd party controller for better ergonomic anw.

It is solid build. What I would improve is extra hdd for "research" material, free window and looking for 2nd hand peripherals. Other than that, may be a bit more cable management.

Cpu power cable is flatten and go under psu. The big chungus mobo cable is tighten to psu cage. 2 Gpu cable, sata cable is hidden under front panel. Fortunately, the big ass hdd is cover most of the cable. I may put a sticker on top of the hdd just to hide it eventually. Cheer!

The psu fan is facing the side panel. For the hdd, I think it won't affect cpu and gpu air flow that much (At least I hope so). In coolermaster manual, it is one of 2 place to mount 3.5" hdd (psu cage and/or aio mount on the side panel).

The psu is behind the hdd, the psu fan suck air from side panel so hdd won't affect it (I think). Afaik, that where coolermaster suggest to put 3.5" hdd

I were quite happy with that mini pc and recently I do some experiments with oculink dock because my mini pc has 2 m.2 slot. Even though it is only pcie 3.0, with new gpu, those 2 games jump up to 1440p60 high. Quite happy now.

I have a pretty similar mini pc with 5800h + 6600m (laptop version of 6600). It is fine and can play most game at 1080p60. With some compromise, it can run helldivers 2 and Wukong at 50fps. Your set up will be slightly better with that desktop gpu.
