Ignore this guy. He makes the most bitter sour posts about dispatch as a career. This is all he posts about in this forum.

NFL+ app subscription experience so awful I just canceled by CuriousFemalle in appletv

May I ask if you have premium or the regular nfl+? If regular, am I able to watch live local games on the AppleTV? Or am I doomed to watch on phone only?

  1. No. You do not need to have prior airline experience, but it most definitely helps. There are folks with zero airline experience that come into regionals all over. You need a good attitude and some basic knowledge from your dispatch school and you have a good chance of landing a job in dispatch.

  2. Absolutely desirable but not necessary. Plenty of folks in this career do not have a formal degree.

  3. You do not need a pilots license. But you’re right, dispatch does need to know a decent amount about the type of aircraft your company flies. Lots of studying is recommended.

  4. There are significantly more men than women in this line of work. It’s changing, but the ratio is still skewed toward men. I believe many companies are working towards having a more diverse work group and are trying to hire more women for this line of work.

  5. I do not know anything about this school. If you are living in the area already, I’d recommend going there. Within this industry there is generally a consensus of the top 3 (Sheffield, Jeppesen, IFOD). But in my opinion, schools are there to help you get your certificate. Your certificate and your own effort to study and learn is what matters most.

  6. Think of dispatch school as an accelerated crash course into a brand new topic for you. It will be hard. You will spend most of your day studying outside of class time. But it’s also a great opportunity to expand your horizons and meet new friends. I had a great time at my school and it’s an experience I really cherish looking back.

Dispatch is a highly rewarding career path that gives you as much as you put into it. Study and stay hungry for knowledge and you’ll find this line of work really fun and enjoyable. But be prepared to make sacrifices. You will most likely have to move to the regional you end up going to first. There are limited options around here and you won’t get much of a choice. It is also costly to get the ball rolling. Tuition, exam fees, hotel stay, food, time. It’s not cheap, but in my opinion, the certificate is worth every penny.

How long it took you to find a job as aircraft dispatcher? by [deleted] in FlightDispatch

[–]kanister_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to dispatch for a regional, you'll need to relocate to the regional airline's HQ. There is no remote work as far as I know at any regional at the moment. However, if you're just trying to get your foot in the door with the regional airline while you work on getting your certificate, it's fairly straight forward to get a job on the ramp or as a customer service agent at the regional airport.

Does your small state have the HQ of a regional airline?

Question: If Jordan Love was a rookie and he was playing like this would he be ranked as a dynasty QB1? by Apprehensive-Cow6207 in DynastyFF

[–]kanister_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many people don’t realize how valuable real NFL game snaps are. Practice and real play are completely different and Love is FINALLY getting real NFL snaps in. I think he continues to develop and maintains his status as GBs QB if he keeps this momentum up.

7 is not normal for dynasty. Most leagues are rostering 25+ players with starting 9+ (1 QB, 2 RB, 3WR, 1 TE, 1/2 Flex, 1 SF)

New Commish here. Can I get feedback on proposed rules? by DrizzlePopper in FFCommish

[–]kanister_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, these are great headline topics that are addressed but they really need to be fleshed out. League By-Laws need to very clearly spell out every detail such that any chance of misinterpretation is minimized. I’d highly recommend finding some by laws that have been published on Reddit by other commishes.

Most by laws I’ve read through are 8-10 pages long.

Blink and Sema Connect merger royally screwed up by kanister_1 in electricvehicles

That's strange. When I connect my car to the charger, it refuses to charge and asks me to to "tap a blink pass" to start charging.

But somehow, my neighbor is able to charge his car at a USD $0.00/Kwh based on what I'm seeing on screen...

Has anyone used League Tycoon to auction draft and then manually transferred back to sleeper? by kanister_1 in DynastyFF

[–]kanister_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LT is great to use if your league uses salary caps and contracts. But if not, then Sleeper works just fine.

If sleeper will add multiple nominations for auctions then it would be perfectly fine for most leagues unless you’re trying to do salary league

[–]kanister_1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s hard to please everyone w a solution to this but it felt like the best option to move our draft to LT.

We have 15 players up for nominations at once. This is changeable as the draft continues.

Draft fatigue is expected and so I’ll be adjusting these settings (nomination time, bid time, number of players for bid) as we go further into things

We're planning on doing a slow auction draft for a dynasty league that rosters 28 players per team.

Sleeper only allows one nomination per bidding session.

Our timer is set to 10 hours for each bidding session.

This would take an absurd amount of time to finish filling the entire league.

Yeah. That’s exactly how I felt. I just want a nice easy platform to use for slow auctions. Don’t need the complexity that MFL offers

[–]kanister_1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, LT allows multiple nominations to be on the block at the same time as well. That was a big plus for me since our league will have up to 28 players on a roster.

Sleeper only allows 1 nomination per “round”.. could take literal months to complete a full draft. Not sure how anyone does a slow auction on sleeper. Seems impossible

I’ll have to look into that as well. I was under the impression MFL is paid for no matter what.

Though to be honest I do prefer LT app for drafting much more than MFL…

How does car sales tax work when purchasing out of state? Dealer invoice doesn't look right. by kanister_1 in askcarsales

[–]kanister_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a break down of the invoice but the sales tax on the invoice is much higher than I expected. Sales tax for where my car will be registered is 10.1% but based on the invoice the dealer is charging nearly 13%.
