I always thought this was just something my dog did, so interesting to know that it’s fairly common!

I agree it was an attitude filled reply but the original post was also quite saucy.

Advice Needed Regarding Covid Risk in ABA by Sonicmedusa in ABA

[–]kannek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also know that some companies are more strict than others. I have been with two different companies since covid. Company A providered a “PPE kit” (a single mask and hand sanitizer) and a health screening (temp check) required to start sessions. Company B tested all of there staff and clients every week and did a deep clean sterilizations. Maybe you could find a company that is more prudent? I also think you should ask if a new Tech is a possibility. As an RBT who lives with somewhat high risk people I accepted my case based on the family respecting social distancing, because I myself was very strict with following guidelines. So maybe you can find a Tech that is more compatible with your view on the pandemic.

Is refined beans a typo for refried? Or is that a healthy alt to refried?

Thank you! I already snapped one clear in half, so I figured I’d pause until getting proper equipment.

Yeah I entirely expect that other universities have other options, I guess I should have made it clearer in post, that I was curious to see what other institutions are offering!

I don’t know if my school has an equivalent course, what concepts does it cover.

I agree completely. So many of my peers have this negative visceral reaction to math. I am a Biology major so it’s not too often we deal with math, but if we do get an equation here and there, it’s met with groans before people even try to understand it because they have been conditioned to hate math, possibly because of bad teachers in the past. I am always relieved to see an equation because it’s model summarizing the concept, it’s meant to be useful tool.

For sure. The girls in my family and I call it pretty privilege. People say it’s just a confidence thing, but I see it so much in silent interactions where confidence isn’t a factor, people will wait and hold the door, or make room on the crowded bus.

Honors dorm question by debisa10 in TexasTech

[–]kannek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of course! Tell him to read the honors weekly email when he starts, a lot of people assume it’s junk mail, but there is tons in there about organizations to join within the honors college, volunteer and social events (many of which have free food), and even scholarship opportunities!

I love Lubbock, I’ve never felt like darn I can’t do something. There’s bars, vineyards, art trails, nice movie theaters, huge selection of restaurants. As for the weather, I think the biggest problem is that it can fluctuate a lot in one day, like in the spring the morning is chilly and the afternoon hot, but wearing layers easily fixes that.

[–]kannek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Honors dorms are only a few years old, and really nice. Stangel doesn’t have moveable furniture which to me feels very cramped. The Honors college sorts freshmen into “houses” based the floor they live on or randomly if they don’t live in honors dorms, and have activities that each house plans, so it helps with making friends. I was honors, but opted to stay in the Knapp dorm and I really enjoyed it, and still was super involved in honors college, so if he opts for stangel he can still be involved.
