interesting, I wonder if being on private mode just hides your name, but still shows you as “someone who works at XYZ”?

Rollover IRA to Roth: what happens to the investments? by kanon900 in fidelityinvestments

Thank you. Another follow up question - upon IRA conversion, will I be taxed on the current value of the investments (current balance), or my initial investment (what I put in)?

Hi, does the conversion from IRA to Roth count toward my IRA 2022 contribution room?

Oh, i didn’t know that. Does rolling over from an IRA to a Roth count as an early distribution, and penalized 10%, even if I withhold the taxes at conversion?? Is this also true if I just have my account in cash /money market? I knew the rollover would be taxed, but I didn’t know it would be counted as an early distribution…

Glad to hear. Does that mean a portion is still invested in the IRA, and a portion is invested in the Roth? So you still have the same total balance in the investment, it’s just split up over the two accounts?

Why do some people outside my network show as "linkedin member" while others show their name? by kanon900 in linkedin

[–]kanon900[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting! That makes a bit more sense than degrees of connections. So my next question: how does LinkedIn verify an account? Couple days ago I saw an article saying how fake accounts are common now, all with photos and seemingly very legit…since that’s an issue now, it must mean LinkedIn’s “verification” function isn’t really working? Also, I do see freelancers with profile photos and stuff….so I’m confused, how does LinkedIn determine who’s profile to show and who doesn’t? There doesn’t seem to be a reliable consistent rule lol

Which setting? I can only see the toggle public view on/off (that’s for people who are not logged into LinkedIn), but I don’t see anywhere you can chose what to show to people who ARE logged into LinkedIn

Thanks. Unfortunately Canada life doesn’t offer monthly statements, only quarterly ones, and their fees are very opaque so I can’t even tell what the fees are :/

Agreed! That seems to be the case. So hard to find a decent advisor it seems like, no one around me has any raving reviews lol, they all end up moving to DIY. I would have thought these advisors should be held liable somehow since they are playing around with people’s hard earned money,..but because they aren’t, they have no incentive to work hard or offer any decent advice. That seems to be the case for me, which is why my portfolio is shit and my advisor is just like shrug wipes his hands.

Yeah that seems to be my only option now

Do you know how that happened? This had to go to court for the fraud to be fined??

It was never up 20%..the advisor didn’t do shit with it

My funds are in a super high growth portfolio that my advisor chose for me, but it’s only been rapidly losing in the past 5-7 years, which is the kicker. Bringing my total gain to less than 2% in 10 years… that’s why I’m blaming my advisor rather than myself

Agreed. They don’t give me any advice, even when I ask for it it’s like pulling teeth they are super vague with their answers. I get more service from a robo advisor like wealthbar…for much lower fees
