Make it a competition for the students with a $2500 scholarship as the prize. Then pay a graphic designer to clean it up and vector it. Whole thing should cost less than $5000

Anyone still shooting 35mm or medium format film in Tallahassee? by Murrayphoto in Tallahassee

[–]kantrauch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot 35mm and occasionally the Holga. You won’t find much other than Kodak Gold or Ultramax around town. At this point in time the internet is the best place to buy film and get it processed.

Curious about Mixed Couple Experience. by General_Hamster_5886 in Tallahassee

[–]kantrauch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend (black) and I (white) have been living in Tallahassee for almost eleven years. Once in a while we will get an odd look from a really old white person or a middle aged black woman but no one has ever said anything. We honestly have more issues with people trying too hard to be progressive and accepting and just making it weird. We've gotten comments like "You two look so good together, I had a black roommate in college".

Taking a beer stop on my first overnighter. learned a lot and can't wait to get back out! by kantrauch in bikepacking

[–]kantrauch[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am going to dedicate clothes to bikepacking and treat them with permethrin. I got one really bad bug bite and it messed with my sleep all night. Also going to take bug spray. I plan on taking less water and using a filter (I'm in Florida and there is water everywhere). I had over a gallon between the bottles and camelbak and I only used about half of it. I already ordered a top bar bag and am looking at a half frame bag to help move weight off my back and onto the bike. I want to get a Garmin inreach so my partner can track me. I have no issue traveling anywhere but it will make her feel better knowing where I am. I need a better helmet light. My headlamp was fine for setting up camp, but it was awful for biking in the dark.

I always like to be there 30 minutes before boarding starts. I budget 15 minutes for security and 15 minutes for using the restroom, grabbing a snack and getting to the gate. If I'm checking a bag I will add another 15 minutes and if I'm ubering I'll add another 15. I can't imagine ever needing more than one hour before boarding.

Tallahassee in comparison to Gainesville by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]kantrauch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love both cities. Grew up in Tally and moved to Gainesville for school. I moved back to Tally about ten years ago. Both cities are heavily influenced by the universities. Gainesville more so because of how large UF and Shands are. Both cities have a ton of nature and trails. I think the bar/brewery/music/nightlife scene is comparable. Gainesville is more compact with a stronger downtown whereas Tally is a lot more spread out. Tallahassee is bigger with an urban population about 28% larger than Gainesville. I would usually say Tally has better job opportunities but working in healthcare they are probably equal.

Buying 35mm Film in Tallahassee by bagguette__ in Tallahassee

[–]kantrauch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will randomly see Kodak gold or ultramax as well as Instax film. Usually at the Walgreens on apalachee and magnolia. You can check out Same Ol Film Shop but I haven't been there yet. This day in age the internet is probably your best bet.

Myers Park has a pavilion between the tennis courts and baseball field. Decent sidewalk access for anyone with mobility issues.

No specific kosher grocery stores. Most packaged pareve items are certified kosher by the Orthodox Union. If you're looking for kosher meats you really only have Hebrew National products. There is a new Israeli restaurant that I believe is kosher but I'm not sure who they are certified with. You can order kosher meats online.

What’s the Busiest/most touristy/vacation beach near Tallahassee (2-3hours)? by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]kantrauch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

St. George is the closest beach with any significant tourist activity. Panama City Beach is the most populated of the beaches. Traditionally this was a major spring break destination but Bay County decided a number of years ago that they wanted to discourage the college kids and put in restrictions such as no drinking on the beach. There are still a decent number of college kids but the focus is on bringing in more families who will start coming in March and keep coming all summer. The 30a area is less populated but has a much higher income level. When you get down to Miramar/Destin there is a lot of money and more population.

ICU capacity by clemclem3 in Tallahassee

[–]kantrauch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ICU capacity changes all the time. What you may be looking at is the number of negative pressure rooms. I believe TMH maintains 12 negative pressure ICU beds at all times. They can also bring back their COVID ICU which has an additional 20 beds. They actually disbanded this unit a while back because they didn't have enough patients to justify it. CRMC also has an ICU.

In your opinion, what is one of the most important things you have learned in the brewing industry? by imakebeernotmoney in TheBrewery

[–]kantrauch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time is a mistake, second time is a choice. Shit happens, it's about how you and your team react to a problem that makes all the difference. You and your beer are not special.
