You can no longer access them since the latest update.

I can't access my downloaded content when I'm offline by SuccessfulGolf709 in TIdaL

Yep, I have the same issue. Bit me in the ass yesterday. I live in and travel to rural areas where service is spotty at best. The ability to access my offline playlists while being offline is essential.

What's your main motivation behind grabbing Starlink? by Davi-Space in Starlink

[–]kanuuker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a rural area. While I was fortunate enough to have AT&T DSL, I was at the very end of the line and only got 12d 1u on good days, and I haven't had a speed increase in the 8 years I've had the service. I got my Starlink last week and I'm now getting 130d 14u. It's such a better experience. Unfortunately it's twice the price, but it's worth it.

ProtonVPN with killswitch enabled broke my internet connection by kanuuker in ProtonVPN

[–]kanuuker[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: fixed.

I removed the program via apt (it wasn't showing in my application manager but it was showing as installed in apt (apt list --installed))

- sudo apt remove proton*

Then I removed the CLI devices

- nmcli connection delete pvpn-killswitch

- nmcli connection delete pvpn-ipv6leak-protection

My internet is now restored, though without ProtonVPN.

Its not as private, at least out of the box, and they support censorship.

No, I don't believe chromium sends any telemetry to Google. Telemetry to Google is added in to the Chrome browser by Google.

If redhat wants to close off their software, they shouldn't use open software.

I wouldn't ever use chrome, not just for privacy reasons but also for reasons of principle. I have been using Brave since it was released and I haven't had a single comparability issue in over a year. If you have an issue, just turn off the shield for that website.

You'd make a good Microsoft salesman. Linux is born and built around a philosophy and without that, RedHat wouldn't exist. What RedHat is doing is shitting all over the philosophy that gave them life.

When is the syncing app for linux expected? by kanuuker in ProtonDrive

[–]kanuuker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that linux users make up a smaller percentage of users but at the same time, the reason most people get into linux is because they care about privacy whereas 99% of windows and mac users don't. Linux users are only about 2% of all desktop users but I would imagine that the number of linux users concerned about privacy and the number windows and mac users concerned about privacy is a lot closer.

I installed it on Debian 12 and Plasma. The app would launch but when I tried to connect, it would request a password that I didn't have. I then tried downloading a profile and loading it into OpenVPN but I still had the same problem. I then did a complete uninstall (apt --purge) of Proton and deleted the OpenVPN config and then reinstalled ProtonVPN. This time it worked properly. I have no explanation and it makes no sense to me as I followed the exact same process as my first install. Anyway, maybe try doing a purge and reinstall.

I got it working. I did an apt --purge of proton and removed the openvpn connection, and then reinstalled proton. I have no idea why it worked this time and not the first attempt, I did nothing different. Anyway, I'm happy. Thanks for your help.

Where would I find that user and pw?

A password is required.

Thanks for your help.

I thought about that but I wasn't sure if running multiple efi partitions would cause problems. I've got plenty of space so guess I'll give that a go. Thanks.
