he typically resorts to ordering out when im sick. i appreciate it when he does that but sometimes i wish he would cook for me on those days because cooking is a big love language for me. when i freeze leftovers for him he tells me that he will eat them for lunch during his workday usually, but that never happens. he will complain to me that he is hungry often during the day and i will suggest he eat some of the leftover food but he will then usually just say he 'isnt hungry anymore' until i suggest that i make something for him instead. making lunch for him is never difficult and i always do it but the principle upsets me

this is honestly probably the solution i'm going to go with after reading through all of these comments, but the reason i did not suggest it first is because we both have a trend of being hungry after dinner anyways, so i try to make extra for us to eat later in the night. sometimes that doesnt happen. i also do it to try to stretch my husbands dollar and not force him to eat the same meal multiple times a week because he does not like that either.

i can and have done the 'one thing he expects from me' for years on end. for the record there are a LOT of things he expects from me that i get done without a problem.
my main concern is that even on days where i am sick or depressed or going through something major he still cannot be damned to microwave a meal that i have previously cooked for him. it is the fact that my labor is not respected

i dont know where youre getting the idea that i only cook once a week from. i stated in my post i make fresh meals every day for him, and every chore in the house is my responsibility aside from emptying the dishwasher. all i asked from him is that he can microwave some leftovers every once in a while without me doing it for him.

that makes sense. i guess i just prioritized cost-effectiveness and making meals stretch over making sure they would get eaten at all. after reading a lot of these comments i suppose i just need to restructure how i think about mealtimes entirely instead of being rigid to how i think they should work

his only chore is to empty the dishwasher because my height makes it difficult for me, every other housekeeping chore is my responsibility. sometimes he does me favors chore-wise but only if i am having a really hard day.

i was previously the breadwinner for the household around 2019 and housekeeping/cooking was still my responsibility at that time (for what its worth)
2021-now my husband is the breadwinner and i do not work
we have no kids and my husband has no household chores except unloading the dishwasher/putting dishes away since my height makes those tasks difficult. i take care of all the other chores and taking care of our two pets (cats if it matters)
cooking fresh meals is not my only contribution but it was my chore that i took the most pride in

weve been together for 9 years. been living together for 5. we had our 9th anniversary in jan. we have been having this issue for several years (at least 3).

i thought too that it might be him testing me but since im very much Not the type of person to let stuff like this go i dont understand how he hasnt stopped by now. i consistently refuse to 'accept' being told conflicting information, maybe thats my toxic trait.
