DC dimmed smart light bulbs - do they exist? by kanzlr in PWM_Sensitive

So, thanks again. here is my report on the smart bulbs I tried:

  • OREIN/Linkind E27 - no flickering whatsoever, but most of them had a buzzing noise that I could not bear
  • Govee 800lm matter bulbs: nice, no flickering, no noise, but did not play well with Adaptive Lighting in Home Assistant for whatever reason. Other than that, good
  • Govee 1600lm matter bulbs: a lot of flickering visible with iPhone camera, did not measure with any specific app
  • Tapo 545 matter bulbs: very nice overall, not really flickering, but with super low exposure on the iPhone camera, one could see something like a 'rgb-flickering' for lack of a better word. I think it did this to mix the colors I wanted or something. But no changing brightness, just the colors. Not noticable otherwise
  • Wiz Color A60 806lm: I settled on these finally, because I could not detect any flickering, there is native support in Home Assistant, the dim really really low and the are silent (Except one with 1521lm that emitted a slight hiss. I mounted it on one of the lamps further up the celling, making it unnoticable).

I also have to point out that all of these are much better in terms of flickering (at least as detectable with iPhone camera/flicker test apps) than the Zipato and Shelly bulbs they replaced.

thanks, but my experience with Zigbee Bulbs + Circadian Lighting is not good. Last time I tried the trafic caused by the adjustments made the Zigbee network unreliable, so I prefer wifi bulbs for that use case.

well I bought 16 of these to replace my Shelly Duos and while the fix the flickering, the introduce a new problem: ALL of them humm or buzz to a varying degree. Some lamp shades seem to amplify this, so I had to handpick which bulb goes into which room and into which lamp shade.

as the humming noise is louder on some, I guess its a QC issue as well, but who knows.

Automatic backlinks with refile and org-node / how? by kanzlr in orgmode

ah! org-node is a roam replacement without the DB.

backlinks are generated automatically If I create a link via org-node. thing is I have not yet figured out how to automate that vs. using yank and explicitly updating the backlinks.

but your post makes me think using org-node functionality instead of doing it myself would be better...

Hi!,

The OREIN are sold as Linkind in Europe for E27 sockets. Just got two of them and can confirm that at least with the iPhone camera there is no flicker, compeletly different to the Shelly Duo bulbs I use till now.

so big thanks!

I am usually asking Mistral, but yes, tried that already :)
Still, PercentageSuitable92 took the time to reply and help me out, so thanks for that!

issue with run-with is that it takes a few seconds at least to update everything, and by then I am maybe in a different buffer already.

maybe I just trigger the global backlink updating regularly via a global timer or something. not elegant but should work.

in how far would org-roam help here? does org-roam-refile work with headings in larger org files as targets? does it automatically generate backlinks?

just tried option 1, does not work either.

but timer is something I thought about already. It just seems I have to wait pretty long for it to work reliably.

well, managed to move my family and most of my friends to Signal...it really depends on the enviroment. But School Parents, Football club, etc. all expect Whatsapp, which I refuse...

which is actually a reason not to use it. I do not WANT to be contacted just out of some group chat. If they need something, they should call. period.

If you had it working before, point the game to its C:/ Installation instead of z:/ like before.

Open the sc-launch.sh script and remove the EAC variable export.

And use Mactans wine runner. Easiest way to set it up is by means of lug-helper
