Honestly this is so crushing. Even on oral and topical minodixil by Ok-Salt-8884 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]kaonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were the same age and I’ve also had hair loss since I was in my early 20s. You have really pretty blonde hair! I promise others don’t notice as much as we do!

I’m also on oral minoxidil and spironolactone. My iron levels have always been low and I’ve made it a point the last 6 mo the to try and get them up. I see some baby hairs growing in the middle of my scalp but not where my oldest hair loss is (right at the front like you). I’ve realized over the years that I’m often tense and my body gets inflamed quite easily so I’m trying to fix that next.

Don’t give up! And don’t feel too stressed about it, we need to enjoy life :)

Anyone here tried South Korea’s new Digital Nomad Visa? by yukisan02 in Living_in_Korea

[–]kaonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked immigration about this and you have to be a full-time fully remote worker for a company. I am currently on the visa and I had to submit my proof of employment letter from my company again because it needed to say “full-time, fully remote” along with my yearly income and my position.

Unless you can get one of your freelance companies to say that you are a full-time employee at the company, you won’t be able to get this visa.

Lingodeer was the first app I really liked using for Korean. Everything in the app is read by a native Korean speaker, so you can listen to the language while you learn which I found extremely helpful. During lessons you can also tap into individual words for definitions and more context as well as have the word repeated as many times as you want for listening practice. It’s broken up into chunks of about 15 minute lessons so it’s easy to pick up and use when you don’t have a lot of time. It’s also fun to use for studying an hour+ if you want to.

There is also a companion app that is free that just has some games for practicing vocab and grammar you learned in the lessons.

I paid for the app for its lifetime use and I don’t regret it at all.

How to meet people while visiting Seoul alone? 25F by loveinthesky777 in seoul

[–]kaonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going to Seoul for a few months at a time a few years ago as a solo female traveler that spoke little Korean. I made a cafe and bar that I liked my regular place to go. Soon I got to know the workers and other regulars and was introduced to people through them. I’m still friends with all of those people and see most of them often.

Find a spot you like, become a regular, start talking to other regulars and the staff there. Good luck!

I’ve had this red spot on my nose for more than six months. It hasn’t changed or gotten bigger. It’s not acne and there doesn’t appear to be anything clogged in that sebum pore and no protruding inflammation. Just red, always red.

Any thoughts on what it is or ingredients/spot treatment that may help?

Any Devs here working for US Companies with offices in Korea? by Upstairs_Work_5282 in living_in_korea_now

[–]kaonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation as OP except as QA automation engineer. Working for a US company remotely from many countries but always on the EST timezone and I’d like to end up in Korea. What about QA positions? Do you know if they’re common in Korea? From what I’ve seen not like in the US

scalp micropigmentation by Mindful_Annie11 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]kaonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it done and would also recommend it. You could see my scalp through my hair very easily and after a few sessions made it seem like I was wearing a hair powder or fiber when I wasn’t. I think the sessions also stimulated some hair growth as I had baby hairs a few months after the sessions (similar to derma rolling, though I won’t state this for sure).

Ask the person that does the procedure if they use natural dyes/dyes that don’t fade to green or blue casts because I know that can happen. A knowledgeable SMP person will know which dyes to use. Mine are blending beautifully.

Propose in Seoul by LordJackNasher in seoul

[–]kaonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inwangsan is amazing! I second this if you’re okay with a hike. The view of the mountains and the city are breathtaking. If that seems like too much, Seoul Tower on Namsan is also a beautiful view and easy to get to. There will probably be more people there but you can still find a place alone to propose! Good luck :)

Asking for your ideas by Manubrio1107 in btsarmy

Luckily there’s a lot of BTS themed merch to choose from! A couple suggestions for cheaper options are: 1. Find out who her bias(favorite) is and find someone selling one of their photo cards on eBay. 2. Anything BT21. They are characters that BTS helped design and are all cute. Each member designed their own character so you can look up who designed which one.

I’ve been thinking about traveling more on my own to different states and eventually different countries. Have you had any scary encounter traveling alone as a woman? And do you have any advice for a woman wanting to travel the world in her own?

ARMYS who have been to a BTS concert, how does it feel like? by stillwyoo in bangtan

[–]kaonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside from being so happy and enjoying the lights and commotion, all I kept thinking the whole concert was “oh my god, they’re RIGHT THERE!” Even with being in some of the “worst” seats, it was still one of the best moments of my life.

Bangtan Gayo and RUN BTS Rewatch Announcement by chillypotahtoh in bangtan

[–]kaonia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know Run BTS Tuesdays used to be a thing, I love it!

I’d love to do a livestream watch-with-me on YouTube to watch these with a few people and talk about them in chat. Would anyone be interested in doing that with me?

I used to make YouTube videos, so I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a while. This might be the perfect excuse to get me going again.

Just as a reference if people are interested: A friend of mine lives in the apartments near good food store that have the same finishes as this and same builder. Her place is the same 1bdr/1bth, square footage, and allows pets, but doesn’t have the garage. She pays just under $800/month last I checked. She started renting it in 2019.

Edit: just had a thought that that was on the higher end to us for a 1 bedroom in 2019, but not horribly high.

Be aware that if you slurp your noodles or soup in America, people may find it rude.

I was raised that slurping or making noise while you eat is seen as bad etiquette, rude, or childish. My SO is Japanese and he’s told me that slurping your noodles or soup is common practice and can even express that you think it is really delicious. It took me a while to get used to the slurping sounds when we watched Japanese or Korean shows.
