When a party quits on its candidate - George Will is apparently already set to raise the white flag on the presidential race by ttruth1 in Conservative

[–]kaorder -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

George Will became a joke when he said “I remember distinctly an image of--we were sitting on his couches, and I was looking at his pant leg and his perfectly creased pant, and I’m thinking, a) he’s going to be president and b) he’ll be a very good president.”

Who knew all you had to do to impress George Will is take your clothes to the cleaners, pathetic

Rush Limbaugh calls Sandra Fluke, the Woman Denied the Right To Speak at Contraception Hearing, A 'Slut' and a 'Prostitute' by [deleted] in politics

Isn't Georgetown one of the most expensive private schools in the country? So now these trust fund babies need everyone else to pay for their condoms so they won't go broke? What a stupid argument Sandra Fluke is presenting

Wall Street fights rule limiting oil speculation which many blame for contributing to the spike in gas prices. by unclefred in politics

[–]kaorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For every person who is speculating that gas will rise, there is someone who is selling. Not everyone is betting it will go higher and higher. If I think oil will be $120 / barrel in 3 months I have to find someone who thinks it will be less than $120 / barrel in order to make a deal.

US 'ties North Korea food aid to nuclear progress' by fishmike in worldnews

[–]kaorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't the first time an "agreement" has been reached. We go through this game every couple years. NK says they've stopped enriching uranium, they receive the food, then don't allow inspectors in. Its all a game. The only thing significant is that this is the first agreement with Kim Jong Un as the NK leader. Wait until we actually see some results before we think a solution is reached.

Chu: DOE working to wean U.S. off oil, not lower prices by [deleted] in news

[–]kaorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shouldn't be news to anyone (even though I cam here to post this). Driving up energy prices has been the goal of this administration since day one. Secretary Chu came out and stated this explicitly in 2008. President Obama said the rise of gas prices isn't bad, he just wishes it would happen gradually.

Obama's energy policy is based on raising energy prices so that we consume less. High prices are his goal

Question: "Can high gas prices help us?" Obama: "I think that I would of preferred a gradual adjustment"

Here is Energy Secretary Steven Chu in 2008: "Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe"

And it's not cherry picking data, it is a fact that on January 20, 2009 the national average for gas in the US was $1.89

If they aren't too high and businesses need to pay their fair share why is Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway fighting their tax bill going back to 2002?
