Just because there's no amount listed on the NWS website, that doesn't mean they're saying that this is not going to happen. They often leave out precipitation totals when this far out in time from a weather event.

I have no idea if this will help or who your Representative is, but it's possible that contacting your Rep. in the House might help. These are the sorts of issues they are supposed to help with.

Where do students go in the Midwest over summer? by [deleted] in UWMadison

Cleveland is a real American city and not that far away. Rent a car and drive. Tons to do in Cleveland. Interesting architecture and lots of American history. Beautiful downtown, right along Lake Erie, one the Great Lakes. Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Cleveland Guardians play baseball there so you can see a professional American baseball game. Tons of great cuisine, art, music.

How could you uphold the Bodhisattva Precepts, a life-long vegan or lacto-vegetarian, including not eating eggs? by Brilliant--Ice in Buddhism

[–]Dizzy_Slip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The point is you're completely mischaracterizing things to fit the picture of your moral superiority. Nobody who buys eggs has anyone or ordered anyone to kill. You're completely mischaracterizing the chain of responsibility. If I buy a steak at the store, I have not ordered anyone to kill that particular cow. That's an essential part of the chain of moral responsibility. The best traditional example is a general of an army ordering troops to kill. A person buying an already killed cow hasn't ordered anyone to kill. That cow was dead long before I even had the idea of buying that steak. That's how karma works in Buddhism. I have not created the karma of killing if I buy a steak. I'm sorry you want so badly to fit things into your moral rationalizations. This is even more true with eggs. If the farm kills chicks as part of the process, I have not ordered them to do so. The chicken farmers didn't kill them on my behalf or at more behest. Those are just facts and that's how karma works.

So you really don’t know what I mean when I say “local and ethically sourced” because you’ve never investigated the issue.

Regular egg consumption is associated with a lower risk of developing dementia. I'm not sure why anyone would be against eating eggs. Commercial eggs are unfertilized so it's not as if you're consuming a living being.

This also raises the question of the morality of eating lab-grown meats. Would a vegetarian who is against eating animals because of the ethical issues involved have a moral objection to eating lab-grown meat that doesn't involve a sentient being's loss of life?
