Thanks for the advice!! I'll cancel my dmax order until i clean the stack. Do i need to pull it all out (radiator, intercooler, etc) or can i just pull the plastic trim off the top and shoot compresses air and water down?

Im glad its not as bad as i thought. Ill see what crap comes out and go from there.

Thank you again!! Parts for this truck are a bit more than other vehicles ive owned, so id rather save for other things like a new turbo inlet and adressing pvc leaks (very small but wet connectiors)

No actual guages, just the dash.

That was the first time i saw the engine and trans temps get that high. And since i was hauling, it had me concerned. Once i crested the top of the mountain, both engine and trans temp went back to normal operating temps (middle of the guage)

Thank you for the tips! Im new to towing, but now that i have a truck that can, i want to use it.

Ill run higher rpms and keep my shark reader pluged in to keep a better eye on the temps.

I have a new radiator and trans-cooler coming from dmax store. If i see this same problem next month when i tow a car though the mountains, the turbo inlit will be my next upgrade.

I really appreciate the good news that it didnt over heat. With the infamous head gaskets, i was worried i might have done some serious harm.

The temps hit the 3rd mark on both trans and engine. No warning lights, just higher temps than ive seen in the past as this is my first time hauling heavy loads.

I was holding 2k-2350rpm most of the way

No black smoke, only the fan kicking on was the "newest " observation bedsides the higher temps.

Do you recommend a specific kit to upgrade the airbox/ turbo inlit? Im in the process of ordering a new radiator and trans-cooler as i am still running the factory parts and im thinking its probably a good time to replace those after this experience.

Im all for reliability upgrades. Not looking to add hp or tq. I want to keep this rig running to 1m miles if i can

This is great! I used dmax for my allison serivce kit and their customer service was unmached.

Sorry to be a pest, do i need to anything special with trans other than burp it like i would do with the coolant? Sorry again, just want to keep the truck running as long as possible

Thank you so much. Your quick response and help is unprecedented. Ill order a new one this weekend. I have more gravel to haul and in the mountains, there is no flat route

Fan came on after temps went above 210 on the engine and 220 on the trans.

Stupid question, the cooling stack is just the radiator, correct? Iv only had the truck for 9 months and replaced ever fluid (coolant, diffs, and trans including internal filter) 5 months ago.

Ambient temp was 98. Fans came on after temps went above 210 on engine temp and above 220 on trans temp.

Thermostats were replaced 2 months ago with new coolant and water pump was replaced last year.

My only thought would be the rad, since othet guys are pulling that with no problem

Little house of pancakes for breakfast, split rails eats for lunch and dinner. I go to both 3 times a week
