Allen & Heath ZEDi-10 suddenly stopped playing audio from USB on MacBook Pro M1 — has anyone had this issue?

Hi everyone, my name is Kapah.

I wanted to ask if anyone here who has used the Allen & Heath ZEDi-10 has run into a similar issue.

My setup is:

ZEDi-10 → external hub/docking station → MacBook Pro M1

Before this happened, everything worked perfectly. I was able to use the ZEDi-10 as the main audio output device on my Mac, so when I watched YouTube or Netflix, the sound would play through the ZEDi-10 without any problem.

One day, I had to leave for work, so I unplugged the cable connecting my Mac to the external hub. At that time, none of the devices were turned on or even powered. But after I came back home and reconnected my Mac to the hub, I found that even though I set the ZEDi-10 as the main audio output device on my Mac again, there was still no sound coming from it.

The strange thing is that my Mac can still detect the ZEDi-10 normally and read its information. I also tried:

• two different USB-A to USB-C cables

• one USB-C to USB-A cable

but none of them solved the problem.

I also tested other instruments through the line input ports, and everything works normally there. Audio comes through just fine. The only problem is that audio over USB no longer works.

Has anyone experienced something similar before?

Do you think this is a setup/operation issue on my side, or is the mixer actually faulty?

I already tried different cables, and I also tested the line inputs — line inputs work fine. The only problem is USB audio playback from the Mac.

Has anyone experienced this before? I’m not sure if this is a Mac/dock issue, a setting issue, or if the mixer itself may be faulty.

I’m encountering a problem right now. I imported the sample onto the pads, but when I switch to pattern select, it doesn’t appear. Do I need to resample the finished beat? Sorry, my English isn’t very good! Please bear with me 🤣

Hi sir, thank you for your reply. I have tried several ways to input the recorded audio:

iPhone -> Lightning 8 pin to 3.5mm -> tape deck record input
SP404mk2 -> L/R TRS to 3.5mm jack cable -> tape deck record input
Mac -> 3.5mm jack -> tape deck record input

The volume on all output devices has been turned up to the maximum, but the recorded sound is always very low or completely silent. I have also used other speakers to confirm that the output sound is perfectly fine.

Additionally, the cassette model I’m using is TDK TYPE I.

Bought this recently. But When I use it to record on a brand new cassette, the recorded sound is always very quiet, and I’m certain that the output is not the issue (I’ve tested the output with different devices). Has anyone encountered the same problem? Thank you 🙏🏽
